It's unconscionable.
That is true but Rolex Watches make people do strange things...

If u got the cash, and want it right now buying the wife something for 3k would be fine for me...

To each his own, but honestly, I would consider such a proposition to be an insult.

Ten years ago when I got into the Rolex thing, I was roundly criticized for paying MSRP, but I was happy to do it, as I valued my relationship with my AD and did not begrudge him for making a decent profit.

The one thing about my AD was that he was always open and forthright with me and when I wanted a particular watch, he'd get it for me.

If he'd ever tried to shake me down for any watch, he'd have lost a customer.

Business relationships built on trust, honesty, and fair play are priceless.

I’d do it. They are not asking you to buy a 30k pm watch. 3k extra is less then gray and you can give it to your wife as a gift.

Did you take the deal? It’s probably gone by now.

As said, with the 3k on top msrp you are still several thousand to the good versus getting grey. Maybe you can buy some bullion gold from them or just ask what is the heaviest piece of gold jewelry you can get for 3k from them then sell that second hand.

Tell them you’ll take the Daytona and a BLNR, they make more than $3k that way and you won’t be lumbered with some unwanted piece of jewellery.

Here is a thought. Why not buy the necklace and return it!

I know it’s not that easy. But if I can’t. I would “pay” the $3,000 premium to get my watch. At least with them, you are getting something for the extra money. In the grey market, you are just paying it out with nothing in return.

Do you have a relationship with this AD? If so, I would cut off ties with them as this is BS. If not, you can get what you want by spending a little more money.

OP was really thinking about this? AD offers a super hot watch and the chance to save his marriage... or maybe that was the problem...

My answer would be no with the caveat unless I was already in the market to get something in the near future for the missus. But more than likely my answer would be no as I don't like stipulations put on me by anyone.

Thanks everybody who provide with they feedback, I really appreciate your opinions!!!
There were a few valuable points provided that I need to consider, such as buying a gift card and use it later.

I have good relationship with this AD(he also one of the owners of multiple locations own by one family). I purchased my first Rolex watch DSSD by walking into this store with 10% off the MSRP last year. Since then I purchased BLNR and Daytona 116500 Black.
Daytona Black was similar deal. I purchased piece of jewelry with the watch for my wife and it was actually my offer, not AD's. I gave her a present this past Valentines Day. She is happy and I'm happy just to look at her face when she showed it to her girlfriends . We have two daughters, and essentially all this things will go to them.
So, I decide to take the deal. The watch is not available at the AD as yet. It'll be available with the next shipment to this AD and he said that the first Daytona white he get is mine approximately around one month.
Again, Thanks for everybody who provide the feedback

I'm guessing that in the time it took you to write the initial post someone was already taking the dealer up on this offer ...
