This is unacceptable from this group!

I know everyone thinks he's an expert because he wrote a book.
Their auctions are questionable 80% of the time. If a dial is refinished just say so. Why make it some mystery that it's not.

I can do better dial work after 20 beers

This will be an interesting post as the "tiffany & co" was added after the production of the watch by Rolex. Thus, the difference in font, etc. However, the possibility of a "refinished" dial is is also claimed on the listing...

It would be difficult to refute the legitimacy and/or illegitimacy of these type watches unless supporting documentation is available...

Hi,

I took a look at the watch in question and have put together who we bought it from and how we bought it etc.

It turns out that we also bought two other watches from this gentleman. All three with Tiffany on the dial.

One is an Air King and one is a Patek 3970.

The initials on the back of the subject watch (the Bark President) match the initials on the back of the 100k Patek so I do not think there are any shenaigans going on buy the old fellow who sold the watches.

My poster did say that the dial did NOT say SWISS on the bottom and that it might be redone.

Generally, Tiffany ADDED their names to these dials though as you all know.

I will attempt to get through to the owner of the three watches today to get more info.

Jeff

As a point of interest, has anyone else seen a band signed like this? I have only seen two other examples of band signed like this and cannot get Tiffany to come forth with anything pro or con (And I have a pretty good relationship with Tiffany)

...unfortunately...

...I have not seen another band like that pictured with the Tiffany logo.

...it is interesting, and to ME, looks genuine WITH the Tiffany stampings. They are simply TOO perfect NOT to be genuine.

...personally, based upon EVERTHING available in the listing and pic's, I would say that ALL is genuine. I must admit that the dial/swiss thingy is a bit of a mystery.

Stan.

Considering Tiffany finished there own dials I would think it is virtually impossible to prove real or prove fake, unless someone has a catalogue of every one ever made.

also ,I believe the texture of these dials allows for photos to look "smudgy" when viewed..
I would definitely want to see it in person before I cast any aspersions about it..

I am by no means an expert...but the "Tiffany" stamped on the clasp looks pretty good.

Did you see the provenance? Once owned by a former New York sergeant...NYPD? And the guy also owned a Patek? That sounds like an interesting story in and of itself.

Just my thoughts

The dial is not original at all. Just to speculate that it might be is crazy.
Some people pay extra money for a Tiffany retailed piece. I'd be willing to bet $1,000 to anyone who believes this dial "could be real" what does that mean?

The dial definitely looks different. It is printed on a non-smooth finish so you would think they might have just left the engraving on the watch and the printing on the band. The dial looks like an afterthought. AIMHO.

Interesting, yes ... and a side note that I know several leos that own high end watches ... some of us even regard them as a good investment (better than leo "tools"). I just had to finally join this forum so that I could respond to this post.

AIMHO = All In My Humble Opinion.

The communication flavor of this post is much different than in posts of old. Maybe we have all grown up a little bit this year.
