Stopping by AD for a battery change...and SURPRISE!
So, today, I drop into my local trusted AD, Wilson and Sons, with a friend who needs batteries changed in his watch. I introduce him to Yury, the Rolex and CW21 certified watchmaker. Just as a side interesting note, I’m told that Yury is the only watchmaker in the US who is Rolex certified to service a Skydweller movement...and right in my backyard!
Ok, before anyone asks...the other SS watches I saw in the cases were two Explorer II black and a white, DSSD black, Milgauss GV. There was a bluesy two tone Sub and some other TT and Gold sports which I can’t recall at the moment. In any case, the owner walks over and we chit chat about Basel, which he just returned from. He showed me the new catalog as he commented on which watches he saw and liked. Interestingly, he did mention that he was told the BLRO bezel has a higher manufacture failure rate leading to the slower production compared to BLNR. Anyway, the conversation goes my mentioning that a watch like an SD43 might fit my friend very well... Mike goes to the back and reappears a few minutes later. Lo and behold: My friend says not for him. I try it on and instantly I exclaim, “Oh, Sh..!” I hee and haw a little since I have a 6.5” wrist...call the boss (wife) and... “Pack her up! She’s coming home with me!” The folks at Wilson are true professionals and always warm and welcoming. I’ve only bought a BLNR, Tudor GMT and some small jewelry for the wife. So I was pretty surprised they offered me the watch. They give me faith that there are still some AD that care about us regular collectors. In contrast, every time I’ve been to Wempe NYC or Rolex Manhattan or Roosevelt Field, they were nice, but never have offered me a sport Rolex. Thx for reading...Here are some more pics... |

Awesome story! On a 6.5 inch wrist what bracelet configuration did you go with? Did you remove the diver extension?

As for the bracelet: I removed a total of 3.5 links...2 from the 6 o’clock side and 1 and half links from 12 o’clock side. Glide lock is set to one position looser than the tightest position. I left the diver extension because it’s badass and a Seadweller feels naked without the possibility of instantly expanding onto a dive suit... |
