116400 Milgauss - On the Fence...
On no, not another ‘does this look okay’ thread, but, does this look okay??? (I know it’s a personal choice, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, etc....). But, if I didn’t value the opinions of complete strangers, well then, I wouldn’t be here... I haven’t pulled the trigger yet, but thinking... NOTE - This is a bad photo because the bracelet is hanging off loose. My wrist is 6.75” and, when straight, the lugs don’t hang over. I guess what caught me off guard is how much bigger this wears than the 39mm Explorer I. Also, not sure what I think about the tint. Any Milgauss owners? I can’t decide if I really like the tint, or, if it is too bold for my taste. Thoughts appreciated... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I thought i would’ve liked it but I tried on both a black and zblue and couldn’t get past the haze of the glass. I know in certain lights it probably looks awesome, but it looked blurry when I tried it on and wasn’t a fan. I did like the fit though. Compared to a SubC it feels small imo.

I love mine! This exact watch was my first one back in 2013. My wrist is also 6.75 and I think it looks and feels great.

I think you've answered your question. When it feels right you'll know immediately. "I can’t decide if I really like the tint, or, if it is too bold for my taste." I only buy watches that sing to me. Whatever you decide, go with your gut! The honeymoon will last a long long time.

It looks good, but you have too many reservations and you should move on. You’d know if it was the right by now.

It’s not for everyone, but it’s certainly for me. What many people don’t like about it
is exactly what drew me to it: the green tint crystal, the lightning bolt second hand and the weight/boldness as it sits on the wrist. |

You don't need a big wrist to pull it off. The "bigger wear" feeling will fade once you have the bracelet sized correctly and your arms by your side.
As for the tint being "too bold" for you, you're wearing a purple shirt.. |

I love mine more now than the first time I wore it. It looks great on your wrist but if it ain’t singing to you, better to move on.

I tried this on a few times wanting to like it, but I feel that the black dial is too matte and doesn't look very special. The blue dial radiates nicely, but I don't like that particular shade of blue. Ah well...

116400 Milgauss - On the Fence...
Appreciate all the feedback!!
The purple shirt was a dubious decision from the get go and it doesn’t help the situation. This watch caught me off guard. I was expecting smaller and understated, but, this was neither. But.. I really liked the weight as well as its character. It just looks so darn cool. While I was also considering a 116000 OP, I can now rule it out. After staring at this beast, the OP 36 just disappears before my eyes. It might be between this or a 39mm Explorer. (I have the Sub and GMT categories covered) I might have to pay another visit tomorrow, but with a more sensible shirt! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I loved mine, the green crystal made the watch for me.

If you don’t like the tint, and are not sure of the large size, you’re better off getting a DJ41 with smooth bezel and oyster bracelet. You won’t regret it. Don’t disregard this, you will be surprised, just try a Datejust on.

This was my first Rolex and still gets a significant amount of wrist time. Even with a Hulk and Tutor GMT in the Rotation.

I think it looks fantastic, but if you have any reservations maybe you should start looking at different piece. Maybe look at a 39 OP or 41 DJ?

Get off the fence, get the Milgauss. It's an excellent Rolex. My best man just got his as his first serious watch.

The watch is just mainly ‘thicker’ than the Explorer 1 39mm. The lug to lug length is no different and the case size is literally 1mm different. |

Love the Millie! All models are wonderful but that tinted crystal just makes it pop. Looks great on you.

I like the Milgauss, but I am partial to White dial :)
They are heavier than 39mm Explorer but they wear great. And more unique, and do I dare say fly under the radar? I think most people that bought Rolex for the reason of "look at my Rolex" doesn't like it. But for the people that doesn't want just another Rolex loves it. haha Quote:

The only reason to get a Milgauss is for that Z-Blue dial. I don't see any other reason to pay a premium over a DJ (unless you work in a highly magnetic office).

My experience is there is only one side of the fence to be on. On it is not the right side and tells me you need to put this decision on hold for a bit. If it doesn't sing to you, chances are it won't start singing after you buy it.

End of day two. I didn’t make it to the dealer to look at it again.
My AD might be able to get an Explorer I shortly. (Different shop). While the Explorer is an easy choice, this 2016 Milgauss has such a great look. At age 50 I am lucky to have many nice watches so there are no daily wearers. Oddly, my Explorer II polar gets weekend duty pretty consistently. This is an example of a watch I never cared for, got it, and fell hard for it. But I digress. Decision will be made end of week. In the meantime, I am enjoying everyone’s comments. Please post Wristies! Especially if you have 6.75” wrist. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
