Congrats on your Subc date. That was quick. You can always engrave it, now or later.

As long as you don't touch anything but the caseback, not all that expensive. Worst case scenario, new caseback and it's back to factory. Often a simple polish will fix it.
EDIT: NVM, just saw you got and engraved it. Congratulations. |

Why all the hate for engraving??? Pretty ridiculous. OP, if you want an engraving on YOUR watch then make it happen. I have a GMT that I wore during one of the biggest events of my life.....it will be engraved. Period. And if I ever need a new case back, then I will get one. No big deal.

Enjoy the the Submariner. Once it’s passed down, that person would know the sentimental value of it. No need to engrave it.

I wouldn’t do it. We all think we’re going to keep watches forever. We very rarely do.
That said, I bought my son a BB58 for his 21st and got that engraved. But I did that to make sure he doesn’t sell it!!! Don’t engrave now, perhaps get it engraved when you pass it down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Great call on the engraving, gerobak. I've been wearing my engraved Rolex (from my parents) for over 30 years! (& anytime I wear a different watch I kind of feel like I am cheating on it.)

My wife and I have several watches with engraved casebacks. 10 and 20 year anniversaries got some nice memories added. It makes it more special to us.
If in 50 years my nephews want to sell them then the caseback can easily be replaced.

I’m not a fan of engraving, but you can always get a new case back if you do engrave then decide to sell.
If you want to discourage future generations from selling it out of the family tree, engrave “Display Only, Not for Sale”. |

Any ideas on cost of getting a 116610 caseback and whether an AD would be able to get one..?

Position is less important than boxers vs briefs. I think if your junk is kept cooler (with boxers) you’ve got a better chance for a boy. I’m not a doctor, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
