Hi out there,

Writing you from the cold Denmark with a few questions concerning my Deep Sea.

Bought my deep Sea from a guy recently. He bought it from an AD within EU in Dec 08 and everything seems in order - have matched the inside watch number at the 6 o'clock marking and it matches the number on the creditcard certificate. Even took the watch to an AD in DK to verify it before buying it.

Well I should feel secure in regards to the genuinity of the watch, but somehow I don't - why?

Now, I'm like most of you, I guess, spending much time in forums like this one, reading and looking at posted pictures. Somewhere I saw pictures of the Deep Sea, showing the open clasp, where you could see the various engravings on the inside. Now, the right part of the open clasp on my watch has 3 engravings - these are; STEELINOX, PJ5 and ROLEXSA in a circle with very small letters - somewhere I saw a Deep See with 4 engravings. So, should there be 3 or 4 engravings?

ALSO, I took the watch to my ear, you know just to hear the sound of the "ingine" and having a Sub also it surprised me, that it sounded different. Besides the ticking it seems to have a "ringing" sound running in parallel with the ticking sound - I don't know if you understand me on this part

Anyway, would like individuals with a Deep Sea to "investigate" the two factors and respond to this thread.

Oic..im not familiar with the DSSD but if like what you said if you showed it to your AD and they said ok..then you should not worry...

I'm not wearing my Deepsea at the moment but will check when I get home. The engravings sound right to me. The PJ5 means that the bracelet/clasp was made in May 2008. Mine is a PJ3 making it March 2008. Post some picks. I don't think the serial number on the rehaut is to stop fakes but more that if it is stolen, it can't be scratched off so that wouldn't be conclusive proof.

I'm not aware that there are any fakes on the market yet of the DSSD. This would certainly be the most difficult Rolex yet in which to make a convincing fake

There are fakes of the DSSD allready...one in particular is from a site called (I'm self editing this place). I found a video for them on youtube when the DSSD first caught my eye and it seemed a pretty convincing fake. I however, just don't see the point in purchasing a fake and I simply couldn't justify paying that amount of money for the DSSD when it really did not look good on my wrist.

Welcome to TRF my man. With regards the DSSD you need to relax amigo, enjoy what you have and chill. The 3 stamps you have are the same as my stamps and mine is 100% the real deal. You can hear the "ingine" alright or in watch terms "ticking" !! Have fun with it and remember you bought it from an AD and not some dodgy back street dealer.

Love this site...learn something new all the time. PJ3 DSSD owner here...was going to ask about this after reading the OP stated PJ5.

Beautiful assist on this one 1220! It took me close to 45 minutes of squinting and blinding myself with a maglite while using a cheesy street directory magnifying strip before i finally got the coronet into focus. Cheers!
