Most desirable series of GMT II Master 16710 ?
I have got mine from 2005 - F serial ... no holes / slim design and 3185 mvnt ... last Z / M serial end of 2007 had already 3186 movement what shows on price ranging between 13 - 22k € ... I was lucky with little under 10k € b&p ... imagine the RMSP was under 4.000 € ! ... up to 500% in 15 years ... mine has got already solid end links but hollow center links on oyster bracelet ... recently bought jubilee and having it just replaced along with general service ... should be stunning... love this piece and will share pic’s ones have it back from AD service ... there are other preferences of 5 digit model serial where “hole case” seems to be more flexible for straps change or other picks ... interested to hear from those who have this masterpiece which serial and why have you chosen it for ...

I have a 2005 F series as well. Originally a Coke but I wear on Pepsi and black quite often.
I bought it new in 2005 and at that point had no idea about all these subtle differences. I just really wanted one and picked it up. 2 yrs later the cermaic black one came out. I remember feeling bad about an 'upgraded' version being available so soon after I bought mine. Then I tried the GMTc in person and it did nothing for me. Much prefer the 5 digit. From handling several examples the only discernable difference I felt were the SEL on the latter models. Holes or no holes makes no difference to me (Its pretty easy to swap bracelets on the no holes case with the right tools). The 3186 movement make no difference to me. |

Thank you ... nice evaluation; when I compare it to 6 digit ceramic (have got two SubND and Hulk) it wears so much lighter (maxi case matters too) but show still good presence ... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think of the 16710s (or 16700s) are desirable - superb watch that touches all bases particularly now that the more modern six digit versions are so difficult to obtain. Likely to get even hotter going forward.

Most desirable is the one you like the best. Do you like lug holes? Solid end links? Tritium? Now if you're asking what's the most expensive then that's the 3186 16710s. |

True ... Z serial really peaks price above current Pepsi Ceramic ... although first production lot was rather velvet/pink ... new lots seem to get it right blue/red Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

A serial hollow end links because that what was in the case at Ben Bridge 20 years ago.
I did get to choose between three bezel colors and jubilee or oyster though. What a mess they have made of the GMT line compared to those days. |

I love the 16710. In my opinion, it is so versatile with the bezel insert changes as well as your choice of oyster or jubilee bracelet.
I was fortunate enough to pick up a M-serial with the 3186 movement before the prices skyrocketed. Obviously, I picked it up due to the movement, and thought this would be a future collectible. Cheers!

Getting mine F serial 2005 flipped from oyster to jubilee soon; own two new SS Sub with maxicase ... love them but slim design and light wear of 16710 is such a great change once a while ... “long tick and wear the gem”

Congrats, very nice! I’ve currently got my 16710 in Coke on jubilee but will swap for Pepsi bezel for summer. Looks great

I used to prefer the no-holes version, but after acquiring a P serial w/ SEL bracelet earlier this year, I have changed my mind. The holes gives the watch a much more "tool watch" look, they make the bracelet changes a breeze, differentiate the reference from the modern ceramic versions, and have longer width springbars.
I subsequently obtained a Coke bezel and Jubilee bracelet, and I find myself changing the bracelets/bezels almost every day -- it's a lot of fun! There's a link posted somewhere about the early 3186 movements being defective, so the 3186 versions do nothing for me. |

The small window of lug holes + SELs seem to be a desirable sweet spot (P, K, and Y serial numbers)
Myself, I'm partial to A-serial for a few reasons. First, that A-serials align (for the most part) to 1999, which is a personally significant year for me. Two, the swiss-only dial variants that can be found on A-serials, which mine is :) Can't go wrong with any 16710 though! I'm just such a fan of this reference |
