Blue dial gmt

Just ran into guy that was wearing old Pepsi gmt with a blue dial. He said he had it since 1982 and got it from a general who got it in the 70's . He said there were few made and only four star generals or them . I try to get a photo but he declined. I've never heard of this have any of you?

Do you mean blue bezel? If so, that's the "blueberry." It's a ref 1675. Those weren't commercially available. But were able to be sourced by the military in various countries during the 70's. I believe I've seen one in the vintage photograph thread here.

The "military" availability of the blue inserts is total rumor and conjecture and has never been a proven fact.

When I heard Rolex discontinued black bezel GMT, I was hoping so much for them to bring in all blue GMT because they got the process to color the ceramic Blue already in "Batman"....

Oh well... may be in 2020. I'll keep wishing.

Then I wonder what the criteria of their availability was?

Clearly the OP says it was a Pepsi (I.e. blue/red bezel), with blue dial. This sounds interesting, I wonder if it’s a rare bird/one off/ or custom?

Sorry Guy's for not being clear . This had a Pepsi bezel and blue dial . I asked if the dial was custom and that's when he went into the whole four star general story .

sounds like the modern white gold 116719BLRO, which is quite a nice time piece all things considered and would probably sit well on the wrist of a 4 star general ;-)
