Rolex stuff in the mail
I bought my first Rolex just over a month ago, and today received in the mail a letter and copy of 'Perpetual Spirit', the Rolex magazine. Smales is the jeweller and AD where I purchased the watch. It looks like it was Smales who sent the letter and also the magazine, however they have used the Rolex letterhead and also the envelope featured the Rolex Crown.
I had thought this was an Australian magazine, but it says it's published in Switzerland, and features overseas articles. There's heaps of adds, and sponsorship related stuff, there's also an article about the evolution of the Daytona watch. Posted a few pics.

Lach! That is so cool! Does it say anything about how to get a subscription? I WANT ONE! I really WANT THAT ONE! With the articles about the Daytona. Would you be willing to sell it? Money's no object, I'll just give you JJs credit card number ;)

I don't understand, if the magazine is international, I thought that all Rolex owners would receive one?
What's going on Rolex? I am going to contact Rolex Australia first thing on Tuesday (I can't contact them on Monday as it's Australia Day) and find out the story behind this magazine.

Hi Lach,
I picked my Rolex at the Smales in Subi too about 3 weeks ago and just got the same magazine in the post. They mentioned it would be sent out when I picked up my watch, think it's quarterly? |

When i changed my bezel at ROLEX HQ in London, I got one for free from them. Some issues were on the table for customers and visitors....

I picked one up at the NY RSC last month, when I brought my GMT IIC for regulation. They were laying around on the tables in the waiting area. I asked that gal behind the counter if I may have one, and she said, "of course." No water or snacks, just Lindt chocolates.
I guess it requires a visit to a RSC to obtain a copy. I would be interested in knowing if there is a way for a customer to subscribe. I bet not though. My guess is they distribute them to AD's, and thats about it. Seems Rolex prefers staying away from end users, prefering to let the AD's deal with the riff-raff like us. Has anyone (i.e. end users) ever received any unsolicited marketing or other communication directly from Rolex? I never heard of anyone who has. |

A nice surprise after a bad day
I just recieved mine today
I must admit that it was a pleasant surprise. I did notice that it was sent from Rolex Australia even though I bought my sub at Partridge's in Auckland. I'll have to thank Glen next time I see him.
