15400/15450 Dial Better Than 15202 Jumbo?

Didn't realize until I saw the dials in person but the 15400/15450 Blue dials got a big upgrade from 15300 and are much more lively and than the 15202, especially side by side.

The 15202 is still the more balanced dial imo and the thinner case/smaller crown makes it look more classy, but I somehow just can't get over how dull the dial looks in comparison now. Anyone cross shop these and went with the 15400 because of the dial?

I passed on a 15202 in favour of a 15400 mostly because of the dial but also because of the way the "softer" 400 bracelet that flows around the wrist as opposed to the stiffer one on the 202 which stuck out on the sides in an uncomplimenting manner even though in theory the 39mm 202 should have fit my 6.75" wrist better.

The dial is definitely livelier on the 400 and also the markers and the hands are angled more, catching and reflecting light with their polished facets in a pretty spectacular way.

The 15202 is a super model you can take pictures of all friggin day but yeah the dial doesn’t pop so if you want that, it’s not the one.

I agreed with this and you can see the dial comparison of my white 15400 vs 15202 jumbo. The white 15400 really pop under the light!

15400/15450 Dial Better Than 15202 Jumbo?

15400 dial quality is light years ahead of 15300 both in terms of sharpness and clearer intracity of dial pattern.

Never seen 15202 in real life or experienced in hand so can’t comment.

15202 is much better in my book...more subtle, not in your face sparkly as 15400. Also changes the colour from almost black to blight blue without looking cheap. But that's hair splitting, really - both are gorgeous;)

No comparison. The 15202 Jumbo has one of the most stunning stubeautiful blue dial in the watchworld. Only one watch I have seen has a nicer blue dial than the Jumbo. The 15400 blue comes close but the Jumbo has a lot more depth. Really need to see it under natural lighting to appreciate.

While the jumbo blue is beautiful in its own way, I prefer the more vibrant and versatile pop of the 15400 blue.

The 400 links "bend" easier relative to each other, so as a result the bracelet molds to the shape of the wrist better. The 202 bracelet is stiffer, less bendy so it sticks out to the sides offthe lugs more, which creates overhang on a smaller wrist.

Because of this, the 400 wears better on my 6.75" wrist (no overhang) than 202, despite being 2mm larger and having thicker bracelet.

Weird, I have 6.75” wrist and the 15202 fit my wrist much better than the 15400. So I picked up the 15202.

As far as the blue dials, I think the 15400 dial looks great, but I prefer the less glossy blue on the Jumbo.

The new 400/500 blue dials are more vibrant, same with PP with the 5711 in SS and in PM. The earlier models are closer to the steel blue of the original Gentas.

Maybe your wrist is flatter than mine, then the 202 should be a great fit. And yeah - the deep blue of the Jumbo is great, nicer than the boutique only blue 400 colour-wise. But I still prefer the dramatic light show the markers and hands on the 400 present when catching and reflecting light.

+1
I like the thinner bracelet of the Jumbo.

Modern 15202 wins. The older 15202 dial didn’t do it for me quite the same

the modern 15202 has enough sparkle for me.. i like them both, and i agree that the 15400 is a bit more flashy/shiny.

One thing that bothers me with the 15202, its hard to read the 3 O'clock due to the color match date disk. 5402 didn't have this problem as the date disc is white.

15400 Dial has better visual anchor points giving better user experience in telling time.

But some people are OCD and like monochromatic designs, it is easier to talk about but give both watches to a non watch community people (remove group think bias) and ask which one they prefer to tell time, I suspect many will pick the 15400ST.

I think he means that due to the missing marker it is hard tor read. A white date disc could "replace" the marker.

I get what he’s saying, but don’t get how someone finds it hard to tell if it’s 2:XX or 3:XX because of the missing “marker”.
