I should get Bluesy back before this week is out!!

Hi guys,

Last week, I took my TT BLUE SUB over to my AD for a complete cosmetic make-over to the bracelet which had some pretty nasty scratches and scuff marks all over when I bought it early Dec. 08 from my friend.

The watch being just over a year old, I knew it was going to be a very long time before I took it for its first service; and there's no way I would have been able to live with those scratches for the next 5 or 6 years.

So I got a reasonable estimate from my AD this morning and told him to go ahead with the job.

Should get the watch back by this Friday - shall post some pics of the finished bracelet when it comes back!!

JJ

Wow JJ, it only took you over 53,000 posts to get it right!
I think Hans just rolled over in his grave!

Glad to hear your TT Blue Sub is coming home soon!

I will admit, he cute little names really bothered me for a while...now I have begun to accept that they are part of this forum! I guess it's what makes this place different from the others though!

Maybe my wife is right and I am losing it!

JJ, aren't you concerned for the integrity of the case? My local AD told me that a Rolex is good for about five, maybe six good polishes, hence why they come up with the 30-ish year service commitment. My Datona has scratches I'd love to have buffed out, but my AD warned against it for the long-term health of the metal. Is he full of sheep dung?

P.S. Congrats on getting Bluesy Back.

If it was only for a bracelet service, I hope you took off the head before you have them do it.

I am having ONLY the bracelet done - NZ$120 (around US$64) all up.

Not doing the case which is fine - only the bracelet which had way too many scuff marks for my liking. I have to live with this watch for the next 5~6 years (before its first service) as it is only 16 months old and I like to look at a "clean" watch!!

No need - the AD-cum-RSC here is very professional. He will do a good job, I'm sure of it. Same guy did my SS Sub-date last year and it came up Aces!!

I saw a gold sub that was being rebuilt at the AD. The owner used it for everything, from work to building his house. After 20 years it was in sad shape. It looked fake as it was so beat up. Ron

64.00 sounds very reasonable to have the bracelet refinished.
