Grandad needs a place to rest

Already has bids. I love how the movement is described as "ticking?" I dont think the face of this "valuable first run red lettering" is worth much on the vintage market

IMHO, its the inconsistencies in the listing that are suspect, mainly that the add is for a Red Sub but what is displayed as the watch for sale is a stock picture of a DSRD. I did try and contact the seller with no luck yet.

Talked to the seller. He stated that the pictures of the DRSD were the "closest" he could find. I also ask if he could provide the appraisal from the Oklahoma AD. He stated the appraisal was verbal. I suggested he bring the auction down himself, get a written appraisal from the AD, and post actual pictures of the watch in question. Only time will tell.

Hey, odd as this sounds, at least the seller was someone who listed phone numbers and will talk about the watch.

Thanks for the reply. I had no idea that there were full fake DRSD's out there, did a search and was stunned to see that they even have web sites with people dedicated to buying 100% fake DRSD's and replacing crystals, crowns, and even dials with originals to improve the quality of the fake! Learn something every day, never thought they had gone as far as to fake vintage SD's...

Seems the guy was not trying to mess with anyone. He brought the watch down and by e-mail assured me he would re-list it with actual pictures of his watch...might be a nice 1680 Red Sub, or at least this is how it was described.

We will see if erica.dba405 posts real pics. I have noted his seller ID and will follow up on this. |

I agree with ibsober & Pav. I am going to do the wait and see routine. Oh and the guy did the right thing and ended the auction.
