If not Rolex then?

We have this One passion that brings us all together! And thats ROLEX :)

What is your 2nd Choice after Rolex?? (ok Rolex again I hear - so whats your 3rd choice then?)

I wonder if us Rolex guys have a common 2nd?

Sorry if your watch is not on the list.. please mention if not...

Believe it or not I love my $200 Luminox if I'm not wearing my Rolex.

Hmm, tough choice, I love watches from so many different brands, it's hard to put any in second place. I'd be more than happy to purchase a Cartier, or an Omega, or a Patek, or a Chronoswiss, or a Jaeger.... etc., etc.

There are a lot of good brands out there, but there's only one brand that I consistently love, and that's Rolex

I thought about this before answering, and finally decided Omega based on the following:

I do dream of owning a PP some day, or maybe even an A Lange. But, if I had all the money from my 2 Rolex and 1 Omega, and no watches, what would I do/buy? I could afford a used PP Calatrava and maybe a Hamilton for daily wear. I don't think this would make me as happy as having an Omega for daily wear, and then perhaps a JLC Reverso for dress. Or if I had to stay with one brand, get a high-end Omega DeVille for dress (perhaps an Hour Vision). I enjoyed wearing my SMP almost daily for over 7.5 years before finally acquiring a Rolex. Omegas are outstanding.

JlC.

I love them....although if I could afford a breguet I'd have one in a heartbeat.

However....if not Rolex...then no watch! I have way too many other things to spend £4 grand on.

I voted Breitling, but I like many on that list. Do not forget Vacheron Constantin either

i'm a one watch guy - as much as i like the 'sir fancy pants' stuff, i don't think it would hold up to the rigours - so if no rolex, then it would be an omega speedy pro.

I'd agree, for a tool watch I would choose my Luminox Navy Seals and for dress I would choose my Movado.

I agree once you have a Rolex everything feels second best.
But if I was pushed I'd go with JLC.
Patek I feel is becoming too common especially on those non-WIS folks who think that by wearing a brand other than a Rolex somehow they are going against the herd mentality

Well. My 2 cents: Several years ago my first non Rolex purchase was Cartier, and I went through several timepieces (panther, santos, pasha, roadster) and then it hit me: It is not brand related at all! While Rolex makes an outstanding product, high quality (at a price) there are lots of great watches out there and it is very (or should I say extremely) difficult to compare them on the same basis. For instance, my JLC Squara Hometime is just fantastic and it just can not be compared to Rolex's GMT or Explorer. Why? Well, JLC is strap, dual display and exhibition caseback, and Rolex is a Rolex; but that does not demerit JLC. The actual 'after sales' experience with JLC has been 1,000 times more pleasant than Rolex, and the small details (box, warranty cards, etc) are far more elegant and detailed than Rolex.

So while I do agree that a Rolex is a Rolex, there is a fantastic array of beautiful watches out there. Once again, the golden rule: buy what speaks to you. It might be a Zenith El Primero Chronomaster, a Breitling Chrono Avenger, a Patek Calatrava, a JLC Reverso, IWC Portugese, Longines Master or something as simple as a Hamilton Khaki; as long as YOU are happy, who cares what others think.

Enjoy life my friends, we only live once; Rolex is and will always be Rolex but dare now and then to go wild and try something different, you might be surprised. And for us Rolex lovers: once you put your Rolex back on your wrist, the 'welcome back' feeling is amazing! Have a great weekend!!!

Rolex are at the higher end of what I am comfortable spending on a watch and for that reason I have bought my two Rolex second hand. So although I would love to spend loads of money on a PP Nautilus I could not justify it to myself or my family.
For me the value for money and quality you get in classic watches like a Omega Seamaster 2254 50 or a Speedmaster means I would go for Omega

Other than Rolex, I have had the pleasure of owning OMEGAs, Longines, TAGs, Raymond Weil, MIDO, Seiko, etc..........but I think OMEGA would be the pick of the lot.

Sorry to repeat the question but how about Vacheron Constantin? Doesn't it deserve a place in the pantheon of horology?
