Stupid Things People Say

My friend said he'd love to learn different languages and be a troglodyte. He meant polyglot.

Prefacing each statement with “I’m not gonna lie ...”. Seems to be the latest speech affliction. Do they mean they really lie all the time and need to clarify if being truthful?!!

When I was in the US Air Force I flew as a crew member and often carried general or flag officers and high level civilians. My former boss said to me one day he enjoyed missions carrying “dysenteries” when he meant dignitaries. I almost spit Coke out my nose as I was taking a drink when he made the comment. He never realized what he said. :)

To an Englishman, this is an odd expression which I thought was misspelt/mispronounced as we use it in the negative “I couldn’t care less”

What is best a custom Rolex or a Rolex that is stuck in custom?

Buy a professional camera and you´re a professional
photographer, buy a flute and you own a flute.

I mean...

Can anyone form a complete sentence anymore without prefacing their thought with "I mean"?

I mean, probably not.

“To cut a long story short...”

In my profession my interactions with people are extremely time limited. Every time a bloke (and it’s always a man) begins a sentence this way, he embarks on the dullest, most irrelevant and longest tale imaginable. Makes my frigging teeth itch.

Honourable mention goes to “he doesn’t suffer fools gladly” (code for “he’s a bit of a nob”). The rest of us absolutely love suffering a fool or two.
