vintage or not
I've just bought a 1989 Datejust steel with a fluted bezel. Im not entirely sure if this is considered vintage or not. i got it from a reputable dealer so im not worried about its authenticity

The beginning of "vintage" is a matter of personal opinion. There are a handful of threads already existing on this topic if you'd like to read many opinions. You can use the search function to find them.
Edit: Here is one thread on the topic. And if you look at post #7, there are links to many other threads. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=674942
