The laws may also play a part in that. Granted, here in Spain, if someone occupies your house while you're not in it, the police will barely help. So, there's that. |

Somehow, they have become very good at cloning numbers and have them show up on the caller ID. A few months after my Mom passed away, my Dad got a call. Guess who's name showed up on the screen? Yep, Mom. Needless to say, none of us were very happy with that.

Yeah, they spoof a local number. Will usually be the same first 6 digits as yours. Makes no sense to block as you're blocking some poor dude.
Lately I've noticed that many legit numbers now look like scam, because somebody reported the number when it was spoofed. I am on the do not call list, and I still get them, but not as many as on my work phone. I also own a business, so I answer the calls and many times they are legit. Now, for the scammers, I sometimes answer just to waste their time. Always looking for new ideas. I've asked them to please hold while I ask my husband if we should get that loan. And had them wait. I've told them in a really creepy voice "goooooood is watching youuuuuuuu" I've told them I wanted to buy an airplane, you know, like the airforce one. If they could help. I've also told them too bad they didn't pay attention in school. They could have had a real job now. I've also given them a lot of ugly words that I won't repeat. And sometimes I just take the call and wait till they hang up. Really depends on my mood. Hard to tell, but I'd say the calls are getting less. I hate scammers.

I received a text yesterday, but not mentioning my name:
"Hi. I am not sure I have the right person so I am checking. Are you the owner of (my address appeared here)." We get a LOT of "Home Buyer" folk looking to scarf up houses for flipping, etc. It is quite intense here in the U.S. So I ignored the text and did not respond. People looking to bug us all day long using our phones is an everyday annoyance in today's world. A huge pet peeve for most of us. If we still had ancient dial-phone technology, getting bothered by others would not be such a problem. Cell phones -- IMHO the worst invention ever created due to what people can do with this technology now, for nefarious purposes. And not to mention the hundreds of thousands of car crashes from brainless idiots driving while phoning/texting. Rant over.

My most often calls are about Microsoft too...I don’t have that operating system!
More calls are getting into my medical history (maybe it’s a lucky guess on their part) but those kinda freak me out as in HOW did they know THAT?! |
