Hi Kev,
Here are some pics of mine. 1971, feet first and open sixes dial. This is a very good reference for Red Subs and SeaDwellers http://doubleredseadweller.com/ also check out http://www.vintagerolexforum.com/ The vintage dial archive is great. Cheers, Mark. |

Gotta love those taller domed crystals seen on those 1680s.

just be very careful kevin..there are many many fake dials out there that have been installed inside authentic watches with the intent to fool people into thinking they are buying a real "red" sub..

I even called one guy out on a fake red sub. He reposted the same watch with a different description and pics. The other guy has never replied to my request for specific info and different pics with a certain time and date.

As you can see from the wonderful examples posted by members the RED has a few differences in dial font. Always best to know what goes with what serial number range.
Look here for some info on little changes. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=30759 |

I love all the great looking red subs here and thanks for posting them. Thanks also for nice comments on mine, which is a 355xxxx ser. no. I believe. It's been so long since I checked and it is so worn there now that it is hard to see.
Isn't the Submariner lettering shorter than the next line an indication of an original red dial? I know I've seen some fake red subs that the submariner was longer than the line under it. Here's a close up of the inscription for reference. |
