Getting back into the game...

After 5+ years I've recently gotten back into this wonderful hobby. My last purchase was a Submariner Date back in 2011 (a pre-owned 2005 model). Back then, I remember being able to stroll into the Rolex boutique and seeing every single model in the display case. What a difference compared to now!

In any case, decided to officially kick off my re-entry with a piece that I've been wanting for a long time:

Big thumbs up to Thanh (aka TAKUYA). It took literally < 24 hours between the time which I emailed him with the inquiry to when the Fedex guy rang my doorbell.

Now I just need to figure out how to sweet talk my AD into putting me on the waiting list for a Sky Dweller. At least I know I'll have some time to save up .

Awesome! I'm recently back as well. Walked in and bought a Sub no problem back in the day (late 90's)

The game has definitely changed and not for the better. Before it was nice to walk into any AD and get to see the watches first hand and try them on to see how they look on your wrist. Trusted sellers also had used models that were discounted based on condition and age. Those were the days.......................

I distinctly remember walking into an AD back then, and within 5 min of casual browsing of the well-stocked display case, the sales rep informed me that they could offer anywhere between a 5-10% discount depending on the model if I paid in cash.

However, regardless of whether you believe the current shortage is natural or artificial, the fact is that the increased demand makes this one of the few hobbies where you can buy a material good, enjoy it on a daily basis, and actually have it appreciate in value. Looking at it historically, I believe that in the long term the prices will only continue to go up. Like real estate, it's never too late to invest .

No doubt, I wore my 16610 for 15 years and sold it for $500 more than I paid

i did the same thing, had a bluesy a few years ago then stepped away from the game to marry and settle down, now my life is stable and i figured it was the perfect time to dive back in. Never lost the passion.

The funny thing is that he was never interested in the Sub, but can't keep his hands off the Milgauss
