Yes. And that confirmed they are, to my eye, hideous.

I’m not ripping Omega-I love the Speedmaster-but the current SMP hurts my eyes.

I love the Rolex, in fact I have in 14060M and an explorer 1 ... but let's be honest when we talk about achievements and legacies ... rolex has more marketing than omega, that's why high values ... but I wonder: how many Rolex were in a mission from Nasa or like this week that broke the record of depth?

How are the bezels on these Seamasters? Can you turn them or do you need a caseback opener like the old ones?

Omega and Rolex are two popular brands, one more expensive ... not for the sake of being better, but because people appreciate it more and become an element of status before other people "look at me I have a rolex" 95% of people who buy a Sub or Seamaster use it to jump the waves on the seashore or to get into a pool ... after that they go looking at their wrists to see if their watch is more expensive than the neighbor ... some say that rolex has better resale value, I think it's relative ... if you have the desire to sell it in a particular way to a stranger you run many risks ... if you sell it to a reliable seller it comes out always losing money ....
Now, it is better Omega SMP than Rolex Sub .... I believe that in term of materials ... they leave the same of cost to factories ... in terms of mental value of people ... for some a Rolex is something of wealthy people only, and the reality is that it is an entry level brand for anyone who knows of watches, just like Omega, nothing more than with omega SMP you have it available in stores and it costs almost half a Sub ....

Rolex is by no means “entry level” except as compared to Patek, etc.

Seiko is entry level. Orient is entry level.

I've held both models and overall, I think the Omega edges out the Rolex. Omega has just made such improvements, that it has passed the Rolex by this year, IMO. However, it's just not wearable on me.

Omega is trying to be something.
Rolex is something.

I suppose which one you like may reflect where you are in life. One brand is suitable/best for one group of people while the other brand is suitable for another group. Great news, since everyone can have the watch that is appropriate for who they are.

Utterly Rolex fanboy nonsense that - unfortunattely - feed the view some have of some Rolex owners.

Rolex is trying to be something - like a member of the Holy Trinity. Which they are not.

Patek, Vacheron and AP are something.

I guess I’m a lesser person when I wear my Rolex than the guy with his Patek. And the next day I’m even less when I wear my Omega than I was the day before.

(What absolute friggen nonsense).

Rolex is NOT trying to be a member of the holy trinity.

You are not a lesser person because you choose to wear brand A rather than brand B. Brand A is however probably a more accurate reflection of who you are than brand B is, after all, you chose to wear brand A. I could wear a Patek, etc., but I don't because it does not reflect who I am and what I do.

And finally, if you are worried about being a lesser person because of some material thing you wear I have bad news for you. You are a lesser person, not because of the watch you are wearing but because you worry about such nonsense.

Interesting point of view. By your analysis I might have an identity crisis as I own Rolex, Omega, AP, Grand Seiko, Tudor, Hamilton, Hublot, Longines, and a Shinola... or maybe I just have a spending problem.

I would stick with a Sub.

The Omega is a very good watch and attractive to look at, but IMO its design dates quickly whereas the Sub seems to stay fresh looking- to my mind anyway!

The arguments over totally inanimate objects on here are incredible.

They are watches. That’s it. Unnecessary, completely superfluous watches.

Wear what you like. Who cares about the rest.

My two cents.

Love this thread. Some people spend all day arguing about politics. Better to spend it discussing watches. Seriously. In the end, while I don’t like the SMP for me, it’s all a shared interest.

To me the sea master is no comparison to sub.I put a sub on and I get a feeling I’ve tried on seamasters and no feeling whatsoever.

I much prefer the more classic understated Submariner.

Something about Omega's dial and bracelet that are a bit too busy for me.

Rolex has superior finishing and attention to detail as well as more iconic design principals. The omega bracelet in my view looks cheap
