AD waitlist - how many pieces at once?
There are a number of stainless steel pieces I would be interested in, including
Explorer II (only Polar Dial) Sky-Dweller (preferably blue dial) Batman Hulk Sub (either date or not) What is the optimal strategy to express interest and get on waitlists for SS pieces at ADs? 1) Pick only one piece and let the AD know that is what you REALLY want - don't express interest in others 2) Pick 2-3 pieces (but not ALL super hot pieces) and ask if they can keep you in mind for any of them 3) Give them the whole list of what you would be interested in |

Multiple ADs is da trick; used to be a $1k investment in a blue datejust that you flipped and then you can build a relationship and get on a list

With my AD asking for multiple pieces as a first time customer will have them flag you as a flipper. The first time buyer who shows in focused on a piece they actually want, and is able to tell them why they want it beyond profits/hype will have much better chances of securing an in-demand SS piece.
In any event, Blue SkyD, LV or BLNR as a first time buyer is zero or close to zero chance. Sub or ExpII, definitely possible. |

Yeah my AD has expressed they do not like to sell to first time customers that come in asking for 5 different hot SS watches. It just screams flipper. Pick maybe 2 models that you like and start there. Of the ones you mentioned, best bet is polar or sub. Then go from there. Highly unlikely you’re going to walk into an AD with no history and get a blue skyd, LV or BLNR. They may humor you and say you’re on the list but you’re not really on the list.

Option 3 has worked for me........ and be ready to pull the trigger when you ge the call without any hesitation. Make sure they know you do not intent on flipping, that your intention is to collect.

You’ll sound like a flipper. 2 models max, but just increase your odds and say you’d like a GMT or green sub (don’t call it hulk). This way a Pepsi could end up your way
How many times I went in asking if they could put me down for a Pepsi or green sub, and they would jokingly say and a daytona i imagine? Annoying cuz I’m not a flipper but it’s the world we live in now

Maybe just give them a printed list of what you want and your phone number at the end...Never know what you'll get. Good luck!

Good luck. I spent 60k with an AD and I did not acquire one watch that was in high demand. I did get a stainless gmt , Chnr and a polar but I did not get the ones I really really wanted. I got so tired of the crap
I no longer want those pieces and I am About to get rid of a few and get a patek maybe try some other brands. It’s all AD BS ! |

In the instance of having purchased an Explorer 1 at an AD a month ago: is it worth asking them for Blue Skydweller, Batman, or Hulk? Or is that still definitely off the table, and I should stick with asking for black sub or Exp II, or white/black skydweller?

But remember that depending on the AD you may never see those pieces even if you buy a DJ, exp 2 and a maybe a sub. They may have some big hitters who hoover up or they may go out of the back door. If you want all those pieces and can afford it the only sure way is to go grey. |

Someone insinuated I could be a flipper. My bloodpressure went through the roof.
@OP: 2-3 pieces. Then wait. Pop in 4 weeks later and check out their display and follow up if you're actually on that list. |

Everyone experience is different. There is NO secret formula. However the most common is the more you spend the faster you would obtain the 'HOT' pieces.

I would just get one piece at a time. You'll look like a flipper to them.

As many models at as many ADs is the common modern trend ..with Dunkin donuts in one hand and a dom perignon in the other ...
Be sincere without the gimmicks and you may be surprised what comes your way. It is important for the Rolex AD to supply to the first time buyer .(You wont believe ! ) Their biggest problem in the current market is who is sincere and who is the flipper .They do NOT want to sell to the flipper and see the watch they sold the next day on the grey's website. |

Start with the polar, go from there. Find an established AD you like dealing with.
You might find an AD that would bundle deal a sky dweller with a sub, depends on how insane the market is near you. I'd start slow and then work towards the nicer stuff. |

Skip the AD, ...buy from a grey ...you spend a little more and you avoid the hassle.

Work your way up. Start with the less desirable piece one by one.

Be a customer of the AD first. If you're not, you have very little chance of getting what you want

1. Tell them you are local.
2. Ask for one specific model. 3. Be ready to pull the trigger. Still, probably won't be enough to land the hotter SS pieces if you're snapping up just ExpII's and Subs. |

Go for the easier to attain pieces and go from there.. AD relationships and getting watches comes down to two factors... how much you spend and how much they like you.. its a sliding scale so work with it! Good Luck!
