My friend has a early LV with the Fat 4. That bezel insert is most definitly a different color than the newer LV's. Could you take pictures of the Fat 4 and your M series side by side? Thank you and congrats on a hard find!

Yes...the Fat4 Y series has a lighter green tone, I was very lucky to find one. Y series lasted for a very short time, then the F series came in an the bezel was reported to be a bit darker like the one of today's models. I have to admit that the lighter green had pivotal role in this choice.

I'll try to post some pics but I tell you, flashes and artificial lights makes it almost impossible to determine the different colors. I will need to be out in the sunshine.....you know...sunshine...something in the Netherlands we only see once every 365...years....

and....double checked my bank account today...that too was a bit greener....

Does anyone know why they changed the color, or is it one of those Rolex mysteries?

yes...I think is one of those mysteries. At that time the LV was considered a limited edition,so any change in the watch was " go get it" thing....that's how I think about it.

If someone is looking for one, there was one on TZ last time I looked for just over $4000. They are not commanding a premium, but it is a neat difference. Congrats on your purchase.
