How long is too long to wait with an AD for an Explorer?
Early last month I got the itch for an Explorer (214270). My AD was able to put me first on "the list," and said they'll try to special order, but we all know that it's up in the air as to when Rolex will actually allocate them another piece.
It's been almost six weeks so far, which isn't too bad, but I'm wondering--how long should I wait it out with them before I decide to go gray or look elsewhere if Rolex doesn't allocate them another for awhile? Although certainly in demand, it seems from the forums here that there are definitely some 214270's in the wild, and it also seems like wait times for others have been only a few weeks. Am I the fool for waiting, or is this just par for the course these days? Bonus picture of my 114060 Submariner I sold right before prices started skyrocketing. When you could just walk into an AD and pick up another one for MSRP. |

What’s a reasonable time to wait is really up to you.

There's really no reason to wait this long for an explorer - you've been more than patient. Sent from my SM-J327P using Tapatalk

Balance out how bad you need it with continuing to develop your relationship with your local shop.

You sold an 114060? I almost choked on my cheesecake when I read that, please have a care for other forum users.
Good luck with your Explorer. |

I’m pretty sure Explorers are hard to find these days as well so I would not be surprised if you end up waiting several months.

I'd keep waiting in the interest of not hurting your relationship with them. It's not going to kill you to wait another month or two.
