Guys.....poor Ronan is still in bad shape!!
Hi guys,
If you haven't seen me on too often it's 'cause I'm really not in the mood. Grandson Ronan is still in bad shape, very bad shape. He's been having a serious "bloody" bout of the runs and we just can't stop it. Doctors say that with his Ulcerative Colitis, this can be expected in spurts, but the serious problem is his massive weight loss - over 13 pounds in the last few months. He also gets very tired and is unable to keep up with any of the games at school with the rest of the team. This is serious, guys......very serious. When and how will this nightmare end? And, trust me, you don't even want to know the mental disposition of my poor daughter, Jasmine (Ronan's mother, of course)!! JJ

Yes JJ - really hoping for a fast recovery! If you haven't already taken him for one, perhaps get a second opinion from another specialist. Some doctors have different approaches that might work better for some individuals.

JJ
My sister had UC. She suffered through the worst years of self-confidence etc. Late teens, college etc. She used medications etc hoping it would improve. Sadly she waited too late to have the surgery she wished she had had years before. She had the Doctors create a J-pouch which functions like a colon and her problem was SOLVED!!!!! years of suffering all over. shes in great health now. |

JJ - I know we haven't communicated much, but I want to wish your grandkid speedy recovery - it always sucks when kids suffer. Luckily, their immune system is like no other, so think positively, I am sure your family needs it right now. Be strong!

My little nephew struggles with a terrible mitochondrial disease and I understand how heartbreaking it is to see these little ones suffer at all. It is a very helpless feeling so I send my prayers also to Ronan and your family. Your daughter is fortunate to have a loving, close family.

JJ, I am so sorry to hear that Ronan's not improving yet. I can't imagine the toll this has taken on all of you. I had the same thought as 305GMTII - has surgery been considered? I had a wonderful co-worker who finally opted for the surgery in her thirties and she said it was SO worth it and also wished she had done it sooner. She was diagnosed in her teens and had a miserable quality of life until the surgery. |

That's awful news, JJ - like the other guys I'd thought things were all better from the recent photos.
My thoughts are with you and your family - perhaps it's time to start considering surgical approaches as the guys have suggested.
