Any has experience to confirm if it’s been polished or not
My knowledge is very humbled in AP

If it has been, it’s not glaringly obvious, and that’s the problem with trying to ascertain such things from limited quality images.

100% it’s been lightly polished. The edges on the bezel aren’t as sharp as if it were new

Hard to give a definitive answer from the photos, but the screw depth in the bezel just looks a tiny tiny bit off as well as the vertical brushing itself - could equally be down to a lighting effect though.

More than anything, if the condition of the bezel is perfect (as in no swirls or scuffs) and it’s not been sitting in a drawer somewhere, then chances are it’s had a fresh polish.

Owning a 1 yr old watch of the same reference that hasn’t been polished I can say that one has been.

The brushing on the bezel is certainly not 100% vertical and the area at 9oclock looks especially “worked”.

The sides shouldn’t have such obvious brush marks either.

Wow I thought you were a self proclaimed expert in all things AP......it’s clearly had work done to the bezel and possibly the case too. OP this shouldn’t necessarily be a deal breaker but if you buy it you should allow around £700 for a service at AP as you need to be sure that the water resistance is ok if the bezel has been removed.

OP try and get a good resolution photo of the case back so that you can see the screws. Although it isn’t definitive you sometimes see that the screw slots are damaged which shows that the watch has been worked on by someone other than AP, this voids the warranty. In this case a service at AP would give you a new warranty, from memory this would be 2 years but I could be wrong.

Maybe the seller doesn’t understand what you mean by polished. The bezel has been refinished with the wrong grit sandpaper. I’ve highlighted where the satin (they’re no longer satin) brush lines meet the polished area and there are lots of bizarre scratches. This is evidence of someone using sandpaper to re finish the bezel without removing it and doing it properly. If you doubt what I’m saying then ask how the bezel (the area most prone to scratches/knocks) can be completely scratch free and yet the polished area below it has loads of scratches.

It actually looks good to me. It would be almost impossible to add or effectively re-apply the vertical brushing without removing the bezel and maintain a flat surface on the bezel face due to the protruding sapphire crystal.

The wear pattern isn’t too dissimilar to mine, the polished edges are showing a lot more damage than the brushed face where it seems to accumulate less wear and it’s more hidden due to the finish.

The screw depth also looks good, unlike the previous example the OP shared.

The only thing which does seem a touch off is the crispness of the lines between brushed & polished but actually it has softened on mine a bit due to wear and it could also be an effect of the photo.









A few reference pics for comparison OP. The angle of each photo can have such a big impact on how it looks and what scratches are visible. Ultimately buy the seller before the watch, or if in doubt/ unsure go via a boutique or AD.

Best place is AP direct. Isn’t there a boutique in your hometown ?

yes we do have but unfortunately have to wait at least 4 ot 6 months to get one

Wow - even just for a diver black dial ?

I would have thought this would be one of the most easily available AP pieces.

Often their quoted delivery times are overstated so if you order now it may be only two months in reality.

Looks like at least the face of the bezel has been refinished. The screws seem to be flush with the surface and in some parts protrude over based on the photos.
