I think you would pay zero , zip, nada for any kind of taxes! I can ask my AD to put your name on the warranty paper and send it to you. SS Daytona $9,925USD. Just want to do you a favor! don't want anything in exchange but want you to be happy with it.

And they was stopped in the customs shed at gatwick and i had to pay vat and some tax

On the second shipment the sellar marked the goods as replacement parts under warrenty foc i then didnt have any problem

I think if its new you would be liable for all taxes, import and vat. If its second hand you may possibly not have to pay or if its marked as a gift you are not not liable. The only thing with that is you have to be very careful as it can hit the fan.

Add around 20% to the US price and you wont go far wrong with what you'll have to pay extra.

Be careful if you don't declare it they can be really nasty and take it away, but most times just make you pay import tax and vat but be careful.

UK Customs won't fall for that old chestnut

You will definitely have to pay Import Duty based upon the declared value and description of the item.
If the item is undervalued and customs suspect this, they will open the package... and then you're in the

If the item is new, you will also have to pay VAT at the current rate.

IMHO Paul, with the GBP/USD exchange rate at the moment, plus these additional taxes, it just ain't worth it

I take my family on cruise every year. We have done all the Carribbean routes and Mediteranian, but have not cruise the English isles yet. I'm thinking of Cunar line crossing the Atlantic this year. i have met and made some cruise friends live in Whales!

i have seen some beautiful watches in the US but have not considered them because of the exchange rate
just bear in mind that a ss daytona (116520) at 2009 prices is still only £6170($9,127) and the TT daytona (116523) is at £8870 ($13,121) and thats without discount although i cant see anyone discounting ss daytona's but i have had discount on a TT daytona here and a very good deal at that!

get the phonebook out and get your name down at every AD you can and someone will come up with a ss eventualy.

the AD i use in leeds has had a few ss daytona's in and rings the people whos names are down on his list
worth a try???
of course if you dont want a ss daytona then there is no problem and there are deals to be done here for less money than the US

The only way around customs and paying taxes is if you wish to risk it. Put it in your carry on, do not claim it and hope the agents at the place of entry don't search your bag. It's a great rush of adrenalin if you want to play the game.
