I think we can now stop calling the 216570 (polar) an underrated model!

Spoke to 4 dealers in my area today out of curiosity to see where the models are sitting on the wait list. The FASTEST turnaround I was told for the 216570 polar was 8-10 months. A model just last year you could find on the shelves. Is now an extremely popular model.

Some BNIB examples being sold for a premium.

The Rolex market is hotter than ever

I got the same quote from an AD that wasn't my normal AD. I just laughed and said "no thanks" and my AD got me one within 3 weeks.

Did she work magic? No. They're just getting shipped now. It was dumb luck. You can't order the damn thing anyway so no point taking names down.

And yes, this is a very desirable model right now. I would hardly say it's being slept on in 2019.

That’s lucky. My own AD quoted me 6 months (did not include my own AD in the list of ADs I called)

I bought mine last June of '18 and as of last week my AD has only received one since.

I think all the ss models are desirable. Traditionally the explorer wasn’t the most desirable model but now people will take what they can get.

Exp2 was not so sought after model in the SS sport range. But I guess due to shortages of sub, gmt and daytona, it has become the 2nd choice. The rest of SS such as milgauss, AK and DJ are getting lesser in AD and no discount is given.

I tried to get a Polar for about 4 months from an AD I have a small relationship with and had no luck. I also had my wife ask about one at a Mall AD and they basically laughed at her. I ended up buying a very nice example from a private party locally for a good price.

This reference is most certainly gaining desirability and the lack of availability for the most popular watches certainly has something to do with that.

Having a very large wrist this reference suits me great but I think that size will keep it from ever being close to the same desirability level of a Sub, Daytona or GMT II.

IMO its the best value in the Rolex Pro line.

The reason you wait 4 months for a polar is because it is underated.
If it was a hot watch then you are lucky to get the watch at all
But if you get the hot watch It's a 100% profit ..money in the bank
With the polar you would be lucky to get your money back

Would rather wait for a hot watch
