Do you anticipate the new chrono 38 to be a rare piece?

Hey,

Was wondering if you guys think the new 38 mm chrono steel would be a hard to get piece? Compared to 15400/15500

Thanks

The chronos are normally not hard to get, compared to the models you mention, so I do not anticipate it

If the 41mm isn’t that hard to obtain, I doubt it’ll move its way down to the 38mm. But with the 2019/2020 watch craze, you never know.

Haven't seen it but I'd imagine the 38mm size will appeal to people with a variety of wrist sizes. For that reason I can see it being more popular

It got a ton of attention initially and everyone is out of allocations for the year now, but I don't expect it to last. I suspect the "HODINKEE effect" took hold when it came out -- they loved it and were pushing it hard -- but I don't that momentum will be maintained. Additionally, I've heard the proportions and bracelet taper are very similar to that of the 15450, which is a watch that many like in photos and think will work well but don't like in person. I'm going to predict that the 2019 ones sell out -- they actually already have, other than in gold -- but that they are pretty easily available once 2020 rolls around.

I'd be interested in seeing one in the flesh. I think it will stack up nicely against the 116500 / 116505 and they could be cross shopped in the future.

Went to the AP boutique in nyc to check it out and it is amazing. Unfortunately, allocations for all of 2019 was sold out by March. But will definitely be added to the list in 2020.

I predict it’s going to be a hot seller with sustained demand.

Indeed, beautiful and particularly in the grey dial IMO, but I just cannot come to terms with that unevenly placed date window between 4 and 5 o'clock.

It is likely it shall not be easy to get, though a determined buyer shall be able to source one within 12 months.
