When you get older, you might want a newer watch to balance out your age... my conversion from 5-digit to 6-digit corresponded with my 40th! Enjoy your 16710 — source an all-black bezel, it is killer for use on straps. |

I personally don't want things that are easily attainable for everyone. Yes, these Rolexes that we own aren't rare per se, but they are harder to come by than your run of the mill Tag Heuer or Omega that you can scoop up at any AD. That's part of the reason why I have the collection that I do...went with the 3590.50 Speedmaster because you can't just buy it at any Omega shop - it isn't made anymore. 16710's are no longer in production and they aren't getting any cheaper. My Reverso is discontinued. It goes on and on, but aesthetics couple with desirability definitely plays a part in my collection.

My 16710 originally came with a black bezel, and I actually traded that bezel with my watchmaker for the faded coke bezel that you see in the picture. Easy enough to get the black bezel at MSRP, but the faded bezels are a bit steeper in price so I happily swapped with him!

The new Pepsi, and its scarcity, is likely contributing to the dramatic rise in price for the 16710s. Pre-126710, the 16710s weren’t that far from 16610s on the used market.
JPeezy — you have to go all-in and get a born Pepsi! ;) |

Excellent example.
Some people can’t get over old and accept new. Some prefer new over old. Thank God there are so many choices. Personally, I fall into the new over the old. Something about being original owner but to each their own.

For me it all comes down to maxi vs non maxi case.
I'm not a fan of the maxi case... proportions are all wrong IMHO. imagine a 5 digit case with ceramic insert... Man that would be a dream come true |

Someone said it best. Montana vs. Brady. Jordan vs. Kobe vs. Lebron. You can make a good argument for whatever you pick. I love my 16710 enough that I don't have a desire for the current one. Someone offered to trade me my 16710 and 116710LN for a 126710 BLRO + a little cash but I declined.

Nice to be in a position where you are happy where you are. I totally get that. I feel like in 20 years when I walk in to my local AD to see the new 7 digit Explorer II with ceramic bezel and 120 hour power reserve, I will say "it looks great, but I'll stay with my trusty 216570 thank you."

I prefer the oyster bracelet and vibrant Pepsi colors on the 5 digit, however, if I was purchasing one today, I’d pick the new version due to technically superior.

I would keep my 16710 for the same reason as others just stated, nice to be able to change the bezel when you get bored. I’m guessing Rolex will never offer that option again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Why even discuss a bundle. This market is cooling off.

The new one is probably better from a technical/evolution standpoint...at least it should be. It is just not enough nicer that I would part with my 16710 to have one and they are too close in appearance to have them both in my world. The BLNR...maybe.

Expressing taste or showing style is not saying how unimpressed you are with, or how much of a failure, something is.

Cannot compare new vs old. Rolex is rolex with their own story on your hand and new one to pick up.
Both are super in their own way. I love it both. |

Hopefully the 7-digit EXPII has some sort of not-yet-invented hardened steel for its bezel, like tegimented, so the radial finish doesn’t scratch so much. |

Opinions are good, sometimes a different perspectives can help you learn something.
I prefer the new one. |

If I was going to choose between full PM sport watches in the Rolex line, this would be the one. I prefer the RG vs. YG look (as you can see from my DD40 choice).
It's a nice enough watch - it just doesn't fit in my collection.
