So I would get rid of the stickers because they house the previous owners foibles etc... Then use blue Dawn, warm water and a soft tooth brush and do a good cleaning. Enjoy your new watch...

I service my Explorer II every 5-6 years by my Rolex AD. The oils inside break down and this can be felt when winding it. Also they can check all the seals etc. It’s being serviced now and they suggested to replace the crown and stem because it was not smooth while screwing down the crown. My Polar is 20 years old bought new.

You people are so fussy with this cleaning thing......a quick lick of the crystal & case, wipe with t shirt & voila good to go.

My father bought a datejust in the early 70s when I was a baby and as far as I know it’s the only watch he’s ever owned or worn since. Every day. Doing everything in life. He washes it occasionally, it’s been serviced a couple of times. He generally looks after it, but not obsessively. It looks great, works perfectly.

Why do I say this? You need to get over this nonsensical sticker thing, wear the watch as any other, wash it occasionally in soapy water, just as Rolex advise in the booklet. It’s a wristwatch, to be worn daily, to tell the time. Please, for your own sanity, treat it as such!

I’d wear it in the shower to easily wash it with soap and water daily. I’d take the stickers off too because I’d want to think of it as a metal watch and not a plastic one.

This is what happens when you never clean it.

Ew thanks for the insight, mine is not remotely close to that and I will NEVER let it get to that.

Good

Just wash it regularly, wipe it with a microfiber cloth and you're good to go

Up here in Alaska, I hike to the glacier to get the most pure water on earth; I then warm the water on the woodstove to a balmy 120 degrees. I then let it cool for four minutes, add a handful of black spruce tips and birch bark, and proceed to let it soak in this melange for ten minutes. Afterward, I dry it in my sled-dog's thick, down-like fur; this is like nature's best sponge and promptly powder with ground up fireweed flowers. At night, it sleeps outside under the aurora borealis and fresh mountain air.

Update here are the after pics I had some time today and cleaned it up used some dish soap and a soft brush.

Honestly good feeling, it feels like a whole new watch. Thanks for the advice guys. I managed to keep one or two stickers on ones that arent direct contact to my skin (for those germophobes)

It looks pretty new for a 2013 now that I gave it a bath and removed the stickers not a scratch yet

Was just thinking about what could have accumulated in and around the stickers from the previous owner... He could have been anyone, up to anything - doesn't bear thinking about...

He could have been a latex-intolerant amateur artificial-insemination expert with a predisposition for swine. A sloppy gloveless volunteer at a VD clinic, who knows...

Word to the wise, peel them off and give it a good soak in warm soapy water, maybe use a soft toothbrush to get between the links, then rinse it, dry it, put it on and don't give another thought to the previous owner's residual gunk...

Enjoy! Now's it's clean yours...!!!
