Very disappointed - have been saving to buy myself a Submariner LV for my 50th Bday. Now that I have enough money , I have approached numerous A.D only to be told that allocations are always offered to existing vip customers only . If you want to become a vip customer you have to buy 2 or 3 stock Rolex watches first . What a farce particularly as Ebay have lots with ridiculous mark ups - I guess these are being sold by vip customers !!

Welcome to current market Rolex! You’d better be a very good customer of an AD or have a connection some where.

Sadly you’re extremely late to the party, Welcome to Rolex in 2019. Your options are to pick a model they have in stock and work up over the years to a Submariner LV, use they grey market and get your LV but pay double RRP, or pick another brand. |

Quite a shock for a newcomer. I kind of see it now from the point-of-view of someone who really just want to get a milestone watch.

Are you joining the fray after knowing the game (which is rigged)?

Glad your introduction to the real world has at least brought you to TRF. Welcome and enjoy the community!
A little bit of advice, they had a Hulk in the back, but AD's do not sell to people off the street. They run a business like any other and do what is most profitable for their business. They sell the hot pieces to their VVIP clients, and to grey dealers that also will take a half dozen two tone Datejust's along with it. Please don't pay over list for one on eBay or from grey dealers. You will only regret it in the long run. |

This is the first I've heard of any Rolex being hard to get.

If you really want one then go grey, it will cost you a lot less than playing the AD games especially if your time is worth something also.

Yep it stinks but such is life. 4 years ago a discount could have been had.

You want one, the whole world wants one....its going to be expensive to get to the front of the very long queues.
Why not consider a regular black sub at just a little over rrp until things cool down.....you may find you actually prefer the black anyway.....I do

Be the same as mine. I was fortunate and they secured a BLNR for me in reasonable time. I have had some purchasing history with the group. Be patient, polite and cultivate a relationship. You may get lucky. First step with them is to complete the register of interest. Good luck |

Welcome to the world (and forums)!
Harsh reality isn’t it. A continuous cycle that no one can catch up to. I’m sure back when you wanted the watch and couldn’t purchase it there were also individuals chasing for discounts as well. I would say do more a bit more research and keep track of the market. A lot of people have worked hard and saved money to buy their luxury items. |

These threads are fun, it's like when Neo is first pulled from the Matrix and sees the world for what it really is ;)
Lots of insight on TRF to this very discussion (as noted by most responses above) so a quick search will bring you up to speed. As someone in somewhat similar shoes who's saving up for my first Rolex to celebrate a big event in a year or so, I recommend just being patient but persistent - you know the watch you're after so don't compromise. Call surrounding ADs to inquire, call them again in a month or so, and keep that up until you have established a relationship with a few SAs so they know you are serious. Just stick with it, wait will be worth it. |

You are one in a million that saved up for the LV and I ran into same shortage situation. I went grey and have worn it for the past year. Others have to bundle with $10k of diamonds or spend a certain threshold of $50k to satisfy the AD in the hopes they will be able to obtain one. I had to go grey for my other watches as well. My local ADs wouldn’t even put me on the list for a SS sport.

Welcome to TRF! Yes, the current Rolex market is nuts. Hopefully you can save another few thousand dollars and the Hulk will be yours.
