Just picked up a z blue milgauss which bizarrely far harder to get hold of then I ever imagined.

The AD said it used to be a common window watch (which I agree) but now supply has dried up big time. And very few are arriving.

But he also mentioned it was not a professional model, and all pro models supply at present is slow.

But on Rolex website it says it is a professional model , has something changed ?

The Milgauss is definitely a professional model, as it was designed for those who work at CERN and in other places where there are high levels of magnetism.

Besides, every Rolex watch is what Rolex says it is.

Just bought last month from Zurich, it took me 8 months to find, searched 6 countries. Many AD told me that they have not seen one in a while, it is becoming more difficult to get.

It's a pro model, so not sure what the AD is saying.

However as far as Milgauss availability goes, you can find all the unworn examples you want at the grey dealers. Their supply levels don't seem slow.

just because they are nerds doesnt mean they cant have a watch

professional isn't always extreme sports that owners don't even wear their watch for anyway. What about a pilot?

It’s definitely a professional mode as it was designed for a profession. It is listed as a professional model on Rolex’s site. Congrats! Just picked mine up recently and can’t seem to take it off.

Hmm... doesn’t sound right. I requested the z-blue from my AD and got it in 1 week. Yes it is a professional model.

Milgauss is definitely a professional / tool watch, and I really like both models -- hence there is trouble at my end trying to choose one. ("Get both?) heh

What mystifies a lot of us is why did they put PCL's on a tool watch?

Og course, they COULD be brushed by a good service shop.

Definitely very hard to find. I've only seen 1 in an AD in the past year.

They only had one because it was a grand opening of a new boutique.

Rolex sell it as a Professional model, so it's a Professional model. It's one of a few visual anomalies which make the brand so delightfully quirky for me. It looks like a Classic model but it isn't.

Rolex lists it as a professional model themselves. It is definitely a professional model targeted towards scientists, engineers, and people in the medical fields.

I don't consider it a sports model though. People mix up sports and professional.

I can see the confusion though. After owning it, I'm surprised at how dressy it is. Definitely bridges the line between classic and professional, despite it's quirky aesthetics which are actually toned down in-person.

The design is not for everyone and it has bad value for money within the range:
For the same price: Explorer II (GMT plus Date)
For a little bit more: Submariner Date and GMT Master
For a little bit less: Submariner and DJ41
