Panerai crystal

I've made a scratch on the crystal and would like to replace it.
But I don't wanna pay for complete overhaul at AD and I know that Pam has no logo or serial engraved on the crystal. So, I think about buying a very high grade crystal outside AD. So, I'd like to know whether the quality of the crystal are the same or not? And next time if I send my watch to service at AD, Will they know the crystal is not original? Thanks

Why not just have Panerai replace it with an original?

Yes I'd love to. But the AD will include the complete overhaul service in the package. I dont want to prematurely overhual my watch. As far as I know, the price of crystal (original from AD) may be around 1/3 or 1/4 of the total charge.

There are independent watchmakers with parts accounts. Perhaps that is an avenue? I would hate to see you use a non standard part and then have any trouble with the watch later on either with warranty or having Panerai service. If it were Rolex... they would simply not service it unless it was all original.

Bob Ridley here in the states told me a few months ago that he can service Panerai and he is well respected. That might be a stretch from Thailand - not sure. but, there might be other options. Just a thought.

Good Luck with it!
