First 5 Digit Ref...
Good Evening (Or Morning for Some),
Just thought I would share my latest 'Incoming' without putting 'Incominggggg' in the thread title.... I have recently, well i say recently, purchased a 1991 X-Series Polar 16570 Explorer II with a 'Swiss only' Dial. I have had the watch since around April but have only recently had the joys of wearing it the past 3-4 weeks. (It was in hiding for a few months until I found the right time to break the news to her I had purchased another watch ) The deal I got on the watch was too good to pass up with Box/Papers and it was a spur of the moment type purchase. The watch arrived in very good condition and took it into my local AD to get to give it an eyeball; all was well and they were also very impressed. As for the 5 digit reference; its elegant, versatile and just totally different to the modern 6 digit references. This watch is giving me the same joys and 'wow' factor as my ever first watch (Black 216570), which i really didn't think was possible. There is just something i like about the more delicate steel bracelet and the hug holes that I don't get with my 6 Digit refs. My other 2 watches haven't seen much light of day since finally getting to wear it. After being on the bench about 'non' Rolex straps on a Rolex I thought I would give it a go, I bought a couple of different NATO straps for it. As the my current job role requires a lot of field work where non metal straps are a no-no the NATO works in perfectly for me. The watch also isn't at all 'shouty' on the NATO and totally flies under the radar, which I prefer when at work. I was majorly swayed to purchase this watch from reading reviews/opinions on here and also follow a couple of Polar 16570 wearers on various social media platforms. Anyway.... I hope I influence a few of you that are currently on the fence about this watch.....You won't regret it. Few Pics so far....Along with the now 3 watches strong watch box |
