AD asking USD 13500 GMT II black bezel
Hi All
After joining the forum, I got excited and visited the Rolex AD here, he had the GMT II in black bezel USD 13500 the discontinued version in fresh piece. Do you think its a fair price? As per my research online I think the price of the watch is a little less than what he is asking. Do you think its a nice buy considering the shortage going on? Regards AJ |

No...that is not a fair price. AD's should sell at MSRP.

Note the OP is in Nepal where MSRP may not apply as strictly to ADs

There is no RRP . . it's discontinued.
A rip-off nonetheless

I bought my SD4K at RRP from an AD after it was discontinued.
If the GMT that oP is asking about was a trade-in, I can see the dealer asking more. It it’s new, though, I agree with the others saying it should be sold at retail. |

I am of the minority opinion here. Discontinued watch. Greys selling for 11k +/-. BNIB from AD deserves some premium to the 2013 models out there selling worn for $11k

Pre owned high 9K low 10K an original unworn piece could be priced higher at a dealer. Start negotiating otherwise lots of those out there priced lower than 13.5K asking.

They couldn’t sell that model at msrp 2 years ago. Old movement and old style of a mass produced watch. The dealer is on mushrooms.

I know of someone who paid $11,500 for a GMT LN @ an AD in Pakistan. The AD had 3 in stock.

Looks too much like a sub date for my taste... I’d say get a sub instead.

So are you saying that if an AD had a brand new 6263 Daytona that they held back from the 80s, they should sell it at the MSRP of $250.00 (or whatever it was)?
The watch is discontinued, they should be able to sell it at the price they desire. Prices will vary and it is dictated by what the market bears. And the MSRP concept may not apply to all ADs across the globe. |

Hi all thank you for the reply.
A few things to add here: There is no government controlled pricing here, so many retailer of any goods can determine their own prices. But for Rolex I read somewhere that the brand controls the retail price. The retailer has a new sea dweller (fresh piece) as well and he is asking for USD 13500 for it as well. Not only that he says he can get a new sub date for which he is asking for around USD 10500. He is, I think taking advantage of the monopoly he has as he is the only Rolex retailer in Nepal. Lucky retailer! He also had a sports two tone model which he was selling at USD 13500. So two tone and steel sports model are being sold for the same price. PS When I visited the store, he himself said that he is not allowed to sell more than the retail price :p |
