Another question, in what way will you know that you left this world 'just a little better, than when you came into it'?

I am not contradicting you, i just need you to expand on what it is you are doing, to achieve this.

with thanks.
Not sure if you’re trolling here with your question on the equality of mankind? Really?

I will know I’ve left this world a better place if I can help those in need, care for the poor, sick, hungry or those in prison - imparting what I can to improve their situations.

What do I do to achieve this. I physically deliver food, door to door, to the poor and needy every month. I visit a major penitentiary each month and spend time talking with men who have very little hope of ever seeing freedom. I work at a homeless shelter periodically serving meals. I financially support a local organization that transitions homeless off the streets to shelters, then onto integrated housing with one of the lowest levels of recidivism in the country. Their lives are changed, many attend local community colleges, take entry level service jobs or in healthcare - and go on to lead productive lives.

I am purposeful and focused on raising children to be citizens of the world — to know and understand how others think, believe, live and appreciate and understand the differences — and hopefully follow my example of giving back to society (not just with money) but with hands-on service.

Peace out.

Turns out it was the best thing that happened to me. Sometimes you jump...sometimes you need a push.
Started a new job with amazing people. New colleague introduced me to his wife's sister the following year.
Took all that experience and started my own company, married that lovely woman and 12 years later I have a thriving business, an amazing wife and 2 beautiful daughters.
What's the point? Enjoy the good times, learn from the bad ones. I'm a "don't get too high or low" kinda' person but when things are good - soak it in.
My daughters are 5 and 8 now. My advice there. Soak that in too.
Best line about parenting I ever heard.
The days are long but the years are short.
Love it! Great advice.

I appreciate all the feedback! I do try to pay it forward and try to lead a value driven life. Just seems the scales are really tilted in my favor at the moment.

Values are big for me. A hand shake still means a lot -

I am grateful and fortunate for my blessings and don't take them for granted.

At the end of the day you have to keep pushing forward ->

Cool thread. Happy for those having a great year. I generally stay optimistic, so rarely think about the "what ifs".

I just ride the wave of good fortune. Give back as much as possible and if the wave crashes then I will figure it out then. Super grateful for the life I have and the people in it.
