I resisted buying a TT SkyD

I’ve been waiting for my Blue SkyD for six months and I’m getting really tired of waiting. I travel a lot and want a timezone function. Today I almost bought this TT which was available at the AD so I could finally have the function on my next trip... But i resisted the urge...

Ha ha that’s great. I’m in the same boat although not waiting as long. Contemplated switching to the TT Champagne Dial. I was starting to justify it thinking it would diversify the collection as I don’t have any two tone pieces. Then I see pics of the SS Blue SkyD - waiting it out.....

I was also waiting for the blue Skydweller. An AD offered a TT black dial at 5% off SRP. I bought. Justification....the TT was cheaper at the AD than the SS at grey market. This is my first TT. Also, i already have 4 watches with blue dials. One of them is the DJ2 which is quite similar to the blue dial SS Skydweller.

Quite happy with this purchase.

That makes sense. It’s a beautiful watch, I almost pulled the trigger as well...

How I managed to control myself was that i already have a TT Sub which I wear only on occasions. For the travel functions I really want an SS as I travel to places for work where I don’t feel like flexing a gold watch. But if I didn’t have the Tt Sub I probably would have bought this as a first TT and still wait for the Blue SkyD as well. I Have a JC and the blue on SS is just really something else.

I can appreciate your desire for the blue SKD, indeed such a beautiful watch.

I also had apprehensions that the TT SKD as you stated “feels like flexing a gold watch”. IMO, when worn and viewed from a short distance, one will not notice the yellow gold. I do admit it is an attractive watch not because of gold but the watch size and fluted bezel.

I'm also waiting on a Blue Sky Dweller. Bought a DJ41 Blue Dial to help with the wait, and I'm currently negotiating the price of a second hand TT Daytona to help with the wait for an SS one. We are all doing what helps with easing the pain of the wait for our sought after models

The Sub and Deepsea are for display only... they started doing that since earlier this year here in Southeast Asia, so you can wear watches that you can’t buy...

You did the right thing brother!

Don't ever settle for a watch, ever, because in 6 months you would be posting "the watch never did sing to me" and "what do you think about this trade?".

I'll never understand people who make the mistake you just avoided. Buy what you love and hold on to them! Good call my friend!

Buy it gray.

Why wait? Time is money. You are losing time.

It’s almost double! If it was a few K extra i’d probably do it, but as a matter of principle I refuse to pay double retail.

You did the right thing!
Even though it’s a beautiful watch but I wouldn’t “settle” for less than what you want and wouldn’t just buy it because it’s popular on the forum!
