Code + 15407OR Bundle

Hi, I’ve been reading through the forums and really appreciate the information that is exchanged. This is my first post!

I’m relatively new to the fascinating world of watches although perhaps a tad late given the prices of some models!

I’m keen to add a 15407OR to my collection but refuse to pay grey prices for it. I recently got told at an AP boutique that I may be able to secure within 1 year if I were to purchase a CODE Chrono.

I’ve had mixed thoughts on the CODE - similar to most other reviews. But I happened to see one on the wrist of someone and frankly it did look stunning. I haven’t seen a Chrono at the boutique but did see the 3 hand that I didn’t think much off.

I’m only 75% sure of keeping the code but will certainly keep the 15407. Given secondary prices on both watches this seems like a good deal but I’d like to hear the thoughts of forum members.

Also, is it possible to make the commitment of supplying the 15407 binding or will I have to just take the word of the boutique in good faith?

Look forward to hear your thoughts before I pull the trigger....

that's a sad state if AP boutiques are now following the steps of Rolex's ADs.

That sounds like blackmail to me brother, I'd run away fast!

And take some advice as you start your watch journey. Only buy what you love and take care of them. This will guide you to the right decisions every time. Can you say that about your current scenario?

I was told by Bal Harbor, Atlanta, New York, AND Vegas boutiques that specifically buying a Code, Millenary, or Jules Audemars is what will get you on the list for sought after pieces.

It's the secret code to unlock loot.

I don't know about the boutiques, but the Atlanta and Vegas AD's will say anything I think.

I got my blue 15500st without buying an 1159... just sayin

I'd rather try to find one grey.

If I could bundle a code and a open works I’d do it. But I’d be surprised that’s all it takes

Yes sad but I guess this is the state of the watch market - some pieces are covered and the rest and being pushed...

That said - the code is really grown on me so I’m not really buying something I definitely don’t want...

Grey is a minimum 30% Plus from retail which is a lot given USD80k+ retail price. Wouldn’t it be better to just take the hit on the code? (Assuming the boutique does deliver...)

I just don't like to give these ADs the satisfaction of hustling me.

If you’re getting a code and can swing for it, the QP version is absolutely stunning. Then you will have two watches you want to keep.

If you like the code chronograph, then I would get it. I saw the chrono in the boutique this past weekend and I would certainly rock it. The initial criticism was a lot, but as things calm down, one can certainly appreciate the art of it.

Beverly Hills boutique had a 15407OR in the display a few months ago. I told my wife it would be an investment. She laughed, and it was gone a few days later.
