Well here's the thing...we're not so special when the pool is wide and deep at an AD. We're a customer among thousands of others. For each of us who spent $X over Y years, there's bound to be someone who spent twice that over double the years. That's where a trusted TRF seller is better IMHO.

The OP didn't rant or rave - so not aiming this his way - but I hope this little story I just wove helps illuminate a possible sign that some of us may have a "Sense Of Entitlement" complex

"Sense Of Entitlement" is running through this thread like words through a stick of rock, all over a round bit of ceramic. What have we learned so far, there's Very Important Persons, there's Very Self-Important Persons and those on a list

I got the call and I went down there. They showed it to me and I pulled out my card. The sales manager said I had to have something /anything engraved on the caseback. Anything. Like hell I said. Then we cannot sell it to you. If you want it that's the rules here. We went back and forth and they were not budging. The MSRP was $ 6700. No tax. On here they were going for 10-12 grand.

I wanted the watch at MSRP so I allowed them to put my initials on the back. They allowed me at that point to pay them. That's how it went down.

They knew if I didn't agree to their terms it was out the backdoor to the next friend, family or big spender. It wasn't like I could say fine I'll just go to another AD! This was 2006 or 7. That's just the way it was. You'll pay, you'll play by our rules or beat it.

Ben Bridge.... I prefer to purchase at any AD... As long as it is NOT Ben Bridge. I can get a better customer experience elsewhere.

So what AD is the OP?

Let us know; if you want to keep them honest they need to learn a lesson and the best way to do it is to hit them where it hurts...their wallet.

It doesn't take much to affect big sales at an AD since they are a dime a dozen...highly competitive.

If anyone is to blame for this blame the Rolex marketing...Rolex could easily ramp up production to support the masses because there just aren't that many people who can afford a 13k watch.

This is JMO, but if you feel they lied and you got jerked around then I think you should take your business elsewhere.

If you have spent that much money in one place and there was a verbal agreement with a deposit clearly your money is not appreciated.

As consumers the only way we vote is with our cash. Spend your cash in another establishment that appreciated your business.

Honestly I think there are more dealers than not that will just tell you your the first on the list just so you can buy it from them. Its BS especially if you put money down. Doesnt surprise me though.

All the dealer cares about is that the first person to come in who happen to be on the list will get the watch. Any dealer who says their was some confusion about who should gets the watch first is BS. They are either incompetant or lieing. They can keep track of millions of dollars in inventory but cant figure out where the right waiting list is for a watch?

BS.....

It wasn't Ben Bridge. I would never shop there. Snooty salespersons with the "Rolex does not allow discounts" line. No thanks.

AD lied, Daytona C madness...

1. I would be upset I didn't have my watch.
2. The AD "list" is ripe for interpretation. Mainly who is the owners/GM's best buddy.

3. I have no idea why they take deposits. Just seems it creates "is there a contract?" Issues.

I would think you could throw a fit and get your $1000 back and go somewhere else, but you now have leverage at this AD. I would make sure they are aware of that and treat you well and stay there if you want the watch ASAP.

I think the OP is playing it cool because there could be a very logical explanation to what happened at that restaurant. If it is a multi-location franchise I have no clue if each store gets their own allocation (I assume so). If that is the case and this gentleman you saw was number one on the list at another location but lives closer to your location and your location let him take delivery there as a courtesy I don't see what there is to be bent about. But I would think my watch would be there then or very soon. Another location sold their #1 allocation to the person who was #1 on their list. He just happened to take delivery at the store close to you.

Now I will say that I have spent no where near what the OP has spent at my AD, maybe $65k in 3 years, and I was first on the list for a bronze BB. I told them I wanted it sealed in the shipping crate. I got a call from my guy saying it was there. They had someone else who was very hot to trot on the same watch and asked if I would be willing to wait if they took care of me. I agreed and they opened it and sold it to the other very happy buyer. It is all about respect and honoring ones word. I think my small family owned AD is good on both accounts. The big guys???? Probably not so much.

Received a phone call this morning from the general manager of the store, she informed me that the watch I had seen was from another store and that it had been transferred over on her day off.

She apologized, however, and explained that she can understand how this would have made me feel before I received an explanation and that she hopes this does not affect our relationship.

The good news is that my Daytona came in and I can pick it up as soon as I'm back from my trip. The bad news is that she offered me no discount on this piece, but did promise a significant discount on any other model (10% more than normal).

If she is telling the truth and they did not allocate the watch they promised me, I'm fine with the offer. But there really is no way for me to know FOR SURE. Luckily I've swept this all under the rug and am kind of over it.

Thanks for all the input :)

Just so happened on her day off... Gotta love these coincidences...

So, if your AD is truthful, you spent ten pages making a series of false attacks on her. She gets you the watch you want. Your response ''no discount'' and the suggestion that she may still be a liar.
Classy stuff. Well done, you.

Pretty big "if", IMO.
All these posts/pages aren't just from the OP...
