Thanks very much. It's so hard to stop. I've found so many watches I adore, though I think I may pick up a 44KS as well (and try and stop myself from walking off with a 5621KS too)... For some reason I'm drawn much more to the KS watches I've seen than the GSs.

So I wasn't sure if I'd find one vintage Seiko that I loved while in Tokyo, but... oops.

Found this King Seiko 4420-9990R AD Chronometer complete with lion medallion. Well really, it would have been rude not to.

I also held a rather wonderful Lord Marvel (best name ever?) - loved how dense the case was, how heavy and engineered it felt, but that example had movement issues and I didn't feel like taking a risk. Definitely on the lookout for one, though.

Very nice KS. This ref is currently quite desirable and rightly so!

Thanks very much! I was really taken by it. It just seems so modern - clean, perfectly proportioned, and extremely elegant without being austere. I saw two during my search and ended up traipsing half way back across Tokyo to the first...

Today was the last straw for my wife and kids; a Lord Marvel joined the other two. Super sharp - I doubt it's ever been polished. Had it on the machine and it's 8spd. Sounds like a gattling gun held up against the ear.

I had hoped to pick up the KS 4521 I passed on a few days ago too, but its was sold. Anyway, no more vintage Seiko shopping for me this trip. Unfortunately.

Here are the three Seiko-teers - Lord Marvel, KS44 Chronometer, KS52 Special. Now to find them some new boots, and get the KS buckles I found on them too...

My two oldies

I've had one since 1980 the second was recently purchased. Nothing of great value but a design I just loved!

Nice looking Lord Marvel. It's amazing that this reference both predated and outlasted the original Grand Seiko 36000 references.

Daini Grand Seiko 4520-8000 from September 1968. JPM shell cordovan strap.

Doesn't look like it's ever been polished... I'm one happy camper.

Very nice indeed. In Grand Seiko or King Seiko...the 4500 movement is the stuff of legend.

Thanks for the info! It's truly amazing - the speed of the movement, how thin it is, and the fact that it appears to be losing 1second a day. After 50 years, it's still within VFA tolerances! Insane.

Any info on this Seiko team?

Hey team...

I have been given this Seiko watch recently and I really like it, though other than the date of manufacture (July 1970) I can’t seem to find much info about it. Can’t seem to find another of the same model online anywhere! Would love to know the value - not because I want to sell it, but may wear it more sparingly if it’s worth a few dollars. It is a 17 Jewels 7005-8070.

Nice watch. We don't do valuations here, but it's not worth very much. Wear and enjoy.

Here is my new mint Seiko 6M23-7000. I had bought one of these many years ago, sold it a year ago in a moment of madness and immediately regretted doing so. So happy and lucky I just sourced a NOS one which arrived with me for my birthday. It has a beautiful melodic alarm chime. Very pleased.

Don’t do it. Vintage Seikos are a rabbit hole you can’t crawl out of...
