Agree - the barrels in the new movements are way too big. If they skeletonize one of the new movements, it will not be great.

Also loved the story of the 3132 movement, rogue project that turned into a great watch

Interesting. What is the second piece? Is that another openworked version? Steel or otherwise?

Another code piece unique. Code can easily become AP answer to Pateks rare handcrafts...

Code is ideal canvas for creations like these... it is big enough and uninterrupted with date and AP writing at the top...

So true, with examples like this I could envision a spectrum of topics and handcrafts on a Code canvas.

The color scheme of the new 37mm lady piece presented here is quite nice:

https://watchesbysjx.com/2024/08/aud...37mm-43mm.html

Homerun would have been a ceramic bezel and a 100 meter water resistance rating instead of the cheap rubber and 50 meters for an offshore.

Totally missed that one (of course, it's not on the AP website yet). Btw, while I agree that ceramic would be preferable, the "cheap" rubber covers a gold bezel.

Ok, but what is the point of using gold for the bezel when you cover it up with rubber anyway?
Maybe they use lead and they just tell their customers that the bezel underneath the rubber is gold :D

So if you want to replace the rubber bezel in a few years because it deteriorates you have to pay something like 10k$ just because its core is made of gold?

It was always like that from the first rubberclad... ss or gold below the rubber...

And I think AP missed big time not making this ROO time only line in some mid size 40 41mm size...

Completely agree - I think they could create a whole range of offshores in a 40/41 case and make it slightly slimmer. Would rival the Aquanuat and take some pressure of RO imo

It is amazing to me that someone can draw that level of detail in that small of a size.

Finally a smaller ROO! But 37mm and only in white/RG is kind of upsetting. We need more smaller ROO's, so I am hoping this is just the start

Apparently its too much to ask to just get some more non diamond options in the 37/38mm for smaller wrist gents. Everything is frosted or diamonds, AP is trying really hard to alienate a lot of guys from buying into their brand outside of the 15550 which I do still want.

Completely agree. An ROO line in the 40/41m range would do very well. Missed opportunity for sure, but maybe there is more to come..

Yes this would be really awesome! Or even a smaller diver with a grey or black ceramic bezel would be a dream!

Agreed. The one thing AP is absolutely killer at is cases and bracelets. The rubber bezels just remove a big part of their strength.

50m WR is also kind of weird for what is supposed to be a very rugged watch. Cheap brands like Sinn can do things like u50 with very thin dimensions and 500m of WR so it feels like getting to at least ~100m - 200m should be doable...

I do like the smaller sizes though. I think a lot of people wear APs that are too big for them.

Francois said it's a compliance issue with the Swiss.

in order to call the gold offshore actually "gold" to consumers the bezel had to be gold under the rubber.

Ok, but at e.g. 40mm it couldn't be as thick as the 43mm or 42mm ROOs. Then what is the distinguishing feature vs a RO/ROC? Crown guard? Different pushers? Rubber straps vs bracelet?

OTOH, Rolex has Sub vs GMT vs Seadweller, none of which my wife can tell apart

They could tweak it here and there I think - there's not huge difference between nautilus & aquanaut case once you remove the ears.

They could keep bezels in differing materials than case, ceramic, gold, rubber etc. and offer them only on rubber straps I think they would be great

Crown guards, larger tapisserie stamped dial is more than enough to distinguish it from the RO line...
