All rumors- but had an interesting conversation today with RM.

Sounds like RM corporate is developing a collector's loyalty program which will allow watch owners to trade pieces back into the boutique. The watches would be sent back to RM, serviced, and resold within the boutiques.

This allows customers to upgrade or find an old favorite.

Ultimately, it sounds like it's a way for RM to begin to control values and secondary pricing. If ADs start to go away, and boutiques begin to sell at MSRP, they can offer value to the customer by taking an old piece in, but also control it's value.

I was told we will see this rolled out "soon". Personally, I think it would be a very smart move.

Don't want to drag down the picture thread, but that trade model will never work with AD's in place. They are not going away anytime soon (years) and the only winner in that kind of model is RM.

Buyer pays full price at boutique, get's offered low ball on trade, then pays full price again. LOL. If you love losing your $$, it's a good model.

Guess we will see how it works! Since it hasn't been rolled out, we can't assume it's a bad deal.

I was just passing on information I found interesting.

I Haven't heard of any other brands doing anything like it, has anyone else? I think it could be a way for the to firm up values across the line.

Like I stated it won't really work until AD's are gone. Only then can they dictate front end discounting. It's not rocket science.

Any who...

Any brand can do this. At the end of the day, with AD's offering 20%+ off and Boutiques offering zero, it really doesn't matter. The buy back program (albeit nothing has been announced for RM yet, so don't know details), isn't going to be a free in and out LOL. You will lose 20% probably every trade back +--makes no sense. Especially in a brand that is so strong right now.

But this thread may be better suited out of the RM PICTURE THREAD

RM made reference to this service on their website over two years ago and every dealer I spoke to at the time knew nothing about it. So they are now finally rolling it out it would seem.

Oops sorry this is supposed to be a picture thread.
