I disagree my man. Politely of course. The secondary value of dato will stay as is or float down. And no1 will buy The 1815 chrono at 80 k usd or whatever they change it too.

I also think Lange is going too far and too fast with their price increases. Richemont likely just don’t get it. If they want boutiques to sell out the resale has to be near or above retail, like sport PP, AP, Rolex. They won’t get there by increasing prices 20% as soon as they get some resale momentum and when the entire brand other than the Odysseus is still trading at a discount.

I agree these price increases are ridiculous, but what boutiques are you all going to where there are a ton of more desirable/complicated pieces available? Most stuff is all on order right now and times are long. I think they're not really concerned about the standard Saxonia sitting in a display when 1815 chronograph and Zeitwerk order lists are plenty long.

Not justifying the price increase by any means, but to me they are doing it still because they can. Whether or not that plays out in the long run we will have to see.

The market will decide and the secondary market will adapt accordingly.
I placed a deposit for my first Lange last fall, got a call from my SA informing me that prices were going up, and given the option of settling the difference before the 20th. No one is ever happy about price increases, but I'm sorting out payment by the end of the week.

I think they screwed up when Patek pricing starts looking like a good deal. Time will tell. I'm happy to be wrong as I do love the brand.
lol if you're ultra rich, that few grand doesn't make a difference or dent to you, what you want is exclusivity.

look at RM and their dumb retail prices

lol, AP does the same shit, but they do in tranches.

2 increase in a year, avg of 4-7% per increase

in Singapore, they stopped taking names for the more complicated pieces since 2022.

late 2021, a regular zeitwerk was offered to me for purchase on the spot without history, white gold black dial but i just don't have the funds to go ahead like a mad man.

now, it's a list that has been closed off, even with the newer caliber reference

i am just lucky i got my 1815 chrono at below 48k usd on the preowned market. lol

Yeah they do but all RO trade above retail so what’s your point? Makes sense to capture some of the spread when retail is below market. Not the case for ALS

The point is it is really only the sports pieces from all the top brands that currently trade above retail, AP is no different.

Lots of brands have increased MSRP time and again no matter that their watches have consistently and substantially traded below retail. IWC is just one example that comes to mind. Omega seems to be in a similar boat as well.

Unsure how up to date your info is but I was at the boutique a couple weeks ago finalising payment for my 1815 chrono and all the Zeitwerks were available to order with about a 1 year wait. The Zeitwerk Date is increasing by more than 20%, the regular platinum is increasing by 5%, and the rose gold is not changing.

Most of the complicated pieces are available to order as well. In fact they had a 1815 perpetual calendar rattrapante on display and available for sale but sadly way out of my league.

Ah ok yes, they also told me the boutique edition and pink gold versions aren't available to order for the 1815 chronograph, only the white gold black dial version is available to order.

Impressive movement. Hockey puck as a watch. Have you actually tried one on? It’s bigger and thicker than an AP diver. Pass for me.

Yeah I know. Even dato is too thick for me. But it's so incredible to look at.

I know I’m biased since I already made this choice, personally, but I much prefer the Patek 5370P. It’s also a stunning movement to admire, but has the benefit of a much more detailed and wearable case. The whole package beats the Lange double/triple for me.

wearable yes but patek movements are too traditional aka boring but amazing finish.

lange have that pop in color within their movement. that's why i chose the 1815 chrono over the 5710

Prices have already been moving up for secondary dato and 1815. There is a large part of the market that will pay msrp for a brand new watch vs the discounted secondary and since there will be no more AD's that will be your only two choices. It basically will push secondary pricing up.

In terms of vs patek, a 5172 still costs more at retail than a 1815 chrono after the price increase. I would assum Patek will be coming with their price increase to make that difference even larger.

For me the 1815 chrono has always been way underpriced and they are now just getting it closer to what it should be.

I have the triple split. The same one Patrick has listed. Incredible watch beautiful dial. I have a small wrist and it balances well.
The patek is not a triple split. Admit it is smaller but not the same

What is a 5710? You probably mean 5172?

I find Lange look very color rich and are clear winners in photographs... but perhaps too dark / moody in real life without stage lighting.

I prefer the traditional Swiss trinity black polish screws to the blued (red white and blue motif) and the shiny bright white bridges myself... in real life.

I'm thankful we have so many options at this level of watchmaking.
