I hope nobody notices my watch.

I actually had someone compliment my Casio DW5600-BB.

Only once ever

of wearing nice watches for 30 years, I was at the Bellagio in LV and a "lady of the night" liked my Hulk, she ran to me like a magnet, I like to think she just thought I was easy on the eye.

The other day my realtor who I worked with to buy my home and is now selling it for me commented on my BLRO...he said nice watch! I was surprised he knew what it was but at the same time I remembered him having an old TT DJ when we bought the house. After he complemented my BLRO he rolls up his sleeves and shows me what he was wearing, a BLNR on jubilee! We proceed to talk about watches for the next hour or so, even though he originally came over to talk about the house. It’s a fun hobby to share with someone who appreciates it as much as you do.

No, people don't notice any of my (beautiful and elegant!) watches. I'm around a lot of people all day at work (white collar/office) and nobody has ever noticed/said anything. Womp womp!

That said, I do get compliments on my ties, shirts, and shoes, etc. And I definitely appreciate it.

A very very small percentage of people ever comment on my watches, and when they do it is almost always on my more understated peices and never on PM rolex models. My Omega Seamaster 300m actually has had more comments in the last 2 months than any other watch I own!
I think this just highlights the fact that most of us in this forum have a very niche interest in watches and 99% of people couldn't care less what you wear on your wrist! My own father constantly tells me how crazy I am to have invested so much into a watch collection lol- no matter how hard i try to explain my passion to him he will never understand.
But i will say it is a very nice feeling on the rare occasion when a fellow watch lover notices and compliments your watch.

See people looking but that’s about it. Only colleagues at work may ask a question about them or other watches that’s about it.

Close to 3 weeks owning my SD43 and nope no ones noticed!

Most important thing to me is that it's " me " who notices it on my wrist each day!!

Friday morning was the first time somebody commented on my new 114060 sub no date.
Have people in residence at a vacation rental, had to drop off a new coffee maker. The guy noticed it, & proceeded to tell me about his 5 Rolex models. Pretty cool.

Yes and decently frequently but only in specific situations. I have a stainless black face gmt-ii. In order of "common-ness"

1) Jewelry Store Employees
2) Young guys at poker tables
3) watch obsessed coworkers
4) watch obsessed friends

For me, Rolex, no one notices. My AP RG RO, yes. That gets a lot of attention.

A story.
Three years ago my son introduced me to the world of mechanical watches. I dove right in. We bought an Omega Speedmaster Professional Moon watch.
Shortly thereafter, I wore it to work.
I am a physician. Wearing long sleeves and a white lab coat every day.
I was asked to see a patient in the ICU. While talking to the patient, a wonderful older gentleman who was accompanied by his son and grandson, after a long discussion of the issues at hand, I noticed the young grandson wore a speedmaster on his wrist. Feeling I had established a sort of report with the family, I slightly lifted my left sleeve to flash the edge of my speedmaster.
The grandson with a similar watch nodded, and that was it.
While checking on the patient the next day, I spoke with the son who in addition to other information, said that his son was into watches and actually had an article written in Hodinkee about his acquisition of his speedmaster after finding an alarm watch in the Phoenix Goodwill box. I looked it up and it was the young man I met.
A wonderful family.

Lots of people notice and complement...Clients, coworkers, friends...non watch and watch people...here is the order of most commented:
1. AP Royal Oak
2. Bluesy
3. Panerai 104
4. BLRo

Just picked up the Daytona...black dial...let’s see what happens with this one.

once and it was last Monday, my Orthopedic surgeon said WTF during my shoulder exam pointing at my Hulk. (he was wearing a Blusy) He said he's on a list for that and the James Cameron SD. He said "one more question before we get to your shoulder, who's your guy?". Other than that only one other time in the last 15 years, a guy at the playground pointing at my Panerai. Truth is you are the only guy/gal who cares in a 10 block radius. Enjoy it for what it is...... And check in on this site to remind yourself you're not alone.

I wear an Explorer Mk2 that I bought new in April 2019. I wear it everyday (I've converted to be one watch guy but that's another topic for another thread).

Outside of my family, only one person in all that time has noticed my watch. I realize the Explorer is known for flying under the radar. This was part of the appeal for me as the Mk2 was intended to be the only watch I wear. Perhaps a Daytona or Day Date would garner more attention and I'm quite sure those of you who own such models can comment on that.

I know that we as watch junkies are always looking at other people's wrists. The general public just doesn't notice your watch.

Thanks for reading.
Nope. Doesn't matter if it's a Vacheron or a Rolex on my wrist, no one seems to notice.

I've surprisingly had a few people notice my watch and comment on it. It always throws me off too. Most of the time, it's when I am doing something with my hands. A cashier made mention of my watch when I handed them a credit card. One of my friends noticed the watch when I was holding down a piece of board while he was taking measurements. Other than that, not many people have noticed.

I don't know if this counts but my DJ41 got noticed at my friends gay bar and I think they thought I was more of a sugar daddy at that point then it being a cool watch! I will not wear it again if I go back there I guess! I guess it means the "men of the night" noticed it?

Nobody ever cares. I like it that way. I'd feel like an ass if it drew a lot of attention.

I definitely notice people checking out my watches, surprisingly my Hamilton 1968 Intra Metic gets a lot of attention (it is a lovely watch imho) and people have commented on it.

I don't mind people commenting as long as they are commenting because they appreciate watches, but I don't like to show off to avoid unnecessary attention.

Car dealers, waiters and anyone who is interested in my money; They do.
One car dealer was trying to sell me an overpriced car and during the test drive he told me I have a great taste. I got the heck out of there and ended by buying the car unseen from another state.

If you're going shopping for a luxury item and want to "qualify" yourself it would be a good idea to wear a nice watch because they will notice. But if I'm going car shopping or anywhere that I'm going to try to negotiate a better price I'll leave my watch at home.

I was at the local jewelry store picking up my girlfriends ring that had been resized. The guy at the counter said " Can I interest you in one of the new Marvel Superhero watches by Citizen? " He glanced at my wrist and saw my GMT.... and said " Uh, I guess not... what a beautiful watch. "

I think he was embarrassed for asking.

Lol. I would be embarrassed just by typing those words! Do you look like you’re 16?
