As per watchbase, this IWC movement is no longer considered ETA based and is considered fully in house.
“This entry was previously listed as being based on ETA 2892; after contact with IWC, we have removed this as according to IWC these movements do not have the same parts, same specifications or even same dimensions as the ETA calibres in question.” |

I don't want to regurgitate every internet watch personality talking point, but I agree with them. It's a nice watch, but was surprised to see it out of the upper four digit price range. This at $8600 is a home run. At almost 12K, it's a single. Personally, I'd love to see it compared directly to the Chopard (I happen to like the AE). |

There seems to be a lot of discussion of the price being to high. I totally agree that it’s on the higher end of what I thought they would have priced it however in the long term I think it’s a good thing. If it was priced 3k lower there would be far greater demand and the watch would likely be near impossible for a person with no purchase history with IWC to get one and would likely go for alot more on the resell market. Therefore, the waitlist would be considerably more than it currently is (+ 1 year) and the people who actually want the watch Likely wouldn’t get one for a long period. IWC are not Rolex, they don’t make more than 50k watches a year and this watch likely takes longer to make than other 3 hand IWC’s. I think at the current price people who want one will be able to get one and hopefully demand will lower in a year or so.
Does anyone know what the demand is in there country? |

I heard this from the UK head boutique a week after it was released. Both the black and aqua colour appear to be the most popular, with the white dial the least popular. There are only 2 boutiques in the whole country so I am not that surprise and when I placed my order on launch day they said they had a lot of people call up and a few people had come in store before me, I must of gotten there 50 mins after they opened.

Are these 10-11mm slim and 40 mm diameter with a "nautilus" bracelet and female end links though? Or are they huge 90s style cuff watches with flared fixed end links?

I am talking about these. There was a silver, black and blue. I nearly bought the blue 10 years ago. Looks to me like this edition has been cancelled by the IWC marketing team. Half the price of the new one, no waiting list, no genta hype, just a solid decent watch. Much like the new one. People are being mugged off a bit here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Anyway, if people want to spend the cash on it and believe its the long awaited remake of the original misaligned Genta then good for them. |

Where is the IWC Genta Ingenieur?

If that shape / angles and curves, case and bracelet finish, dial manufacturing technique, in house vs ETA movement look the same to you then by all means buy the less expensive one. The IW323902 is closer to the new one than post 301 above for sure. 902 is thinner but case and bracelet not nearly as nice. Flattish links with huge center links and a very basic dial. Personally wouldn't wear it. Looks bulky. Also the fixed end link bracelet flare is less comfortable compared to the straight down drape you'll get from the new one. I'm glad internet watch experts think it sucks and don't see what I see. I'll get mine sooner and won't see one in the wild

I think the new one is a nice watch. Its the marketing I don't like. Its disingenuous. I also don't like the fact that AD's who have bust their ass trying to sell IWC, through some real dark days, are not being allowed to sell these new watches either.
Pricing is also ridiculous which is why they are restricting distribution. If they sent them out to their AD's with these price tags, most of them would sit in their cases for months. I got a sky dweller yesterday and its around 10% more expensive than the titanium version. Thats nuts to me. To be clear though, if it was a £7k watch in the UK I would look at one. It's not 5 figures though, not in my world anyway. Enjoy when it comes and I agree you will be the only guy in the village with one! |

Size is pretty subjective based on wrist size, preference, etc. I think he’s saying the amount of R&D behind an in-house annual calendar vs creating an ETA clone is not on the same pricing level.

I hear that a lot with this movement but comparison between them doesn't look all that similar to me. I can't get any bridges, screws, balance, regulation, etc to line up. Can you do a side by side explaining how this is an ETA clone? https://watchbase.com/iwc/caliber/32110

That's not to say it is a garbage watch. If it were $100, I'd get one. If it were $1000, I'd get one. But if it were $5000 - $7000, I would not get one for the same reason I haven't bought an older one that looks nearly identical in relative comparison. Also... I just have to observe something re the "sheep" comment. If people are lining up to buy this watch similar to the way people line up to buy a Rolex, wouldn't that make them sheep too? Especially considering this watch is objectively nothing special? |

There js no such thing as bad publicity. The IWC marketing nachine is doing a great job. When was the last time a new release of IWC generated so much noise. I love the watch and will be in line at the IWC boutique awaiting the new Ingenieur.

although i agree on the price being alittle over but everyone is shitting on the price has come to a point it's alittle annoying, yes we get it, it's overpriced. to me, it's a great looking watch with a solid movement, good enough finishing and history behind it. and comparing to the older gen, it's a totally different watch. i had the amg version but sold it, waiting for this and i think i would love this alittle more |

Why can't an app like Tapatalk offer this overlay ? Sure it may not be visible to web browser folks but within the percentage that uses the app it would.
