Holy cow

Yes indeed. It's almost unfair that this watch exists.

Yes. They only had it in for a few days. It wasn't a customer piece but was apparently a promotional piece doing the rounds around various boutiques.

I think both the looks and functionality put it over the top.

However, if buying secondary, the price gap does spread, so that 1 time out of 10 would be if the price gap is too broad.

To me it felt the same as wearing a submariner. It’s just a tad thicker than a Daytona. Also, This is my first watch with a date subdial. With the 4500, the date doesn’t instantly change and I wish the datewheel wasn’t white and blended more with the rest of the dial

12.8 mm for the dual time vs. 12.5 mm for the Daytona

The white date wheel is actually quite perfect. It provides symmetry against the 9 o'clock index lume which is also white and trimmed in a high polished gold border.

I did a side by side mock up a couple years ago with a blue matching date wheel and it's not a good look to me. A matching wheel messes up the symmetry of the dial.

AP's 15510 is one such example of asymmetry in date wheel execution that Vacheron avoided here. Take a look at that dial and then a 4500V. My eyes prefer the previous 15500 balance.

My $200 snoopy timex has a matching date wheel. There was a time when someone implied here that matching date wheels was somehow related to a higher level of watchmaking. Just want to point that this is not the case. Vacheron's designers are genius and take a LONG time to come up with the dial layouts of these watches.

They spent forever designing the perpetual skeletons while I was patiently waiting for the 222 to return.

Do any of you have a 15510 and a VC overseas and have an opinion between the two? Which do you prefer, and why? Obviously wrist size may matter but both are 41, but I believe the AP may wear larger.
Just curious if there are strong preferences between the two.

So i spent the last week in Dubai trying to find one. The VC boutique in Dubai is not accepting any waitlist anymore and the seller told me the wait list for existing customers is now 3-5 years.

More interesting. I checked with the top 4 grey dealers in dubai. Those would have any watch anytime. Only one has one which is “new”. The other 3 have no new pieces and one has a 2017 used piece for 40K. The new piece ask price is 55k and he is not willing to negotiate. He told me getting new pieces is more difficult than getting any other piece.

The feedback from all, it is that the train left the station and the product is even less available than 5711 and 15202 and prices will get crazier unless something happens to the whole market.

So disappointing… but good for VC.

Yep, something happened to the whole market...like it does after every bubble in every market, ever. Things cannot go up forever. That is just reality, and yes it happened again to the watch market after the post-Covid mega hype + liquidity bubble burst.

You are responding to a rising bubble post from 2021 fyi.

What you're saying isn't wrong it's just an odd choice of quote post.

When comparing the blue dials, the AP blue dials tend to underwhelming. In addition, I think we all agree that VC makes the best blue dial, thus it’s difficult to do comparisons with another brand .

In regards to symmetry, I have no issues with having a date at the 3 o’clock position. For some reason, though it doesn’t resonate with me (not to mention that the date doesn’t change quickly). If anything, the date subdial on the the 7900 gives it more symmetry (yeah the AM/PM indicator breaks up the symmetry, but I like this look)

At the end of the day, we all different reasons why we prefer one over another which is wonderful.

Yeah, I also find it amusing how in the midst of a hype cycle / bubble (no matter the asset) there are people who believe - and will loudly proclaim their view - that things will continue going up forever. That simply and bluntly cannot happen. Then when things collapse / reset / come back to earth, you don’t a peep from these same people. It’s herd mentality and easy enough to comprehend but I find it amusing all the same and I think it’s refreshing to see someone pointing out such a post even if it is from a couple of years ago. Cheers

On a long enough timeline when denominated in ever-more-worthless currency they will in fact go up forever.

I didn't get the impression he was pointing out such a post nor do I think the quoted post represents the straw man "things will continue going up forever" herd mentality. But if you're happy, I'm happy.

I'm just not a fan of the RO. As much as I force myself to like it, I just can't. When compared side-by-side to the Overseas, that blue dial on the Overseas is to die for.

I will say that after my eyes adjust to a VC on the wrist for a week then the first few times I glance at a RO they are very brutal and industrial looking. But then I adjust to wanting one again.

As much as I like RO (and own one) - it's so flashy these days that most of the time I dont even wear it. VC on the other hand you can wear gold on full bracelet and go relatively undetected.

That's exactly how I felt with my 26331. It was great but I was often quite self conscious wearing it especially as the hype grew, so I sold it. I have two overseas and while they are at least on par quality wise they are much more discrete. Suits me much better.
