The female accomplice (an 8 1/2 mo expectant mother) is still at large. She was the puppet who would case homes to determine which ones were unoccupied during the workday when homeowners are away.

I can’t imagine the life this as yet unborn child will face unless she gets help and turns her life around. Sad segue to this side of the story...I can’t change the outcome but can say a prayer she will see the light if not for her own redemption but for this forthcoming baby (per Police her due date is near the 25th)

How do they know? Apparently she was ID’d when her face was on the local news due to a video doorbell pic at another victim’s home. Her parents provided the details. Now the CID is still seeking her - but eventually the baby will come and that may bring her to the hospital. (That last part is my own speculation.)

Tomorrow I go to the CID office to identify property - it appears one of my wife’s Rolexes was recovered and possibly some jewelry.

I so appreciate your thoughtful support during the past 12 days. And I also hope I will post an unusual “incoming”. Like a homecoming picture of my wife’s Rolex.

I am keeping the important 3 in balance so I am not disappointed should it not be hers. Each one - Spirit, Emotion, Intellect - must stay balanced or the others can suffer.

Sorry this happened to you. But I'd say you are doing a far better job of keeping your spirit, emotion and intellect in balance than most could hope for. And you, sir, definitely have class. Best of luck!

Thanks for the extra support.

I did hear from the DA’s office and they bound over the one perpetrator they caught. I’m supposed to get a request for a victim impact statement and then the case will begin winding its way through the court docket.

Christmas was tough only due to my wife’s passing earlier this year. She was the planner for large gatherings at our home.

The recovery of some of her jewelry was heartening. And we did have many smaller gatherings that were more fitting for a season of rebirth.

I hope all of you have had A happy Christmas - and I wish you many great days ahead in the New Year!

Just a quick note to share what happened at the Magistrates Hearing. The DA’s office had called the day before that hearing but I was scheduled for a physical exam on the day it was held.

Probably a good thing I didn’t reschedule the PE because the accused chose to waive his appearance. So that would have been a waste of time in court for me.

There were more burglaries than I knew about. Investigators were able to tie 8 burglaries to this crew and he’s charged for 8 counts of that. He also is charged with possession of a controlled substance (<1oz. of cannabis). Still held with no bond - and nothing is on the court calendar for next week on the case.

I hope these updates aren’t tedious for you, my friends. If a new reader wanted to save time, the lessons learned have been many. Some resonate for all of us and others may only apply to a few.

- Have a robust alarm system with live monitoring, video and NVR.

Always set the alarm (my biggest error methinks)

-Have a strong safe for very valuable collections. Or use a bank safe deposit box. Some people even suggested a decoy big safe at home and a hidden floor safe with the real valuables)

-If you aren’t prepared to self-insure, keep the excess value covered by a special rider in your homeowners. Some use 3rd party jewelers insurance.

-Strengthen existing points of entry to dissuade the amateurs. Many people felt the true professional thieves are virtually unstoppable.

There, I think I covered the past 100+ posts in a summary.

Oh, and if this were to befall you or your family, feel blessed that nothing worse happened - nobody was home so no personal harm. If you keep this in mind, your spirit won’t suffer harm either:

Pain caused by one person can be healed - given time and positive energy - we will be whole again.

I just spent an hour reading this riveting thread. I'm sorry for the loss of your beloved. I'm happy for the retrieved items and have hope for the others. I'm especially glad your daughter will be able to have the passed down items, those have no value.

Thanks guys.

No, we didn’t own any dogs. Many neighbors do and that may have saved them from a double burglary that this crew had been doing in other communities.

I think a trained dog is a good deterrent if your lifestyle can provide the pet a happy life.

Another call today from the DA’s office. They are starting to take the statements from 8 different homeowners who were victims of burglary. A good note is the prosecutor will be the same one who got a conviction against this same perpetrator a while back. So he knows how to work this case with the “repeat offender” aspects.

The DA’s office is interested in what outcomes we all expect. Certainly some restitution would be desired (especially if the fences are ID’d as part of a negotiated plea).

As for me, I think this guy has had 3 chances so they are likely to put him away for longer term than when he first broke the law. The public and LE deserve a break from any new escapades by him.

The other suspect is still at large. By now she has likely had the baby who was due late this month. I do hope she is going to straighten out without being associated with the perpetrator. The baby deserves a better life than what this mother has been leading lately.

The case will move quickly according to the case manager. Since the guy is held without bond currently, the DA must go before the Grand Jury within 90 days. They expect to present the case in February.

Wish I had more to share - I’ve got the black-eyed peas and smoked meat ready for New Year’s - old Southern tradition handed down for generations. Mostly superstition but hey it’s bad mojo to break the tradition now

Oh, yes, I did get MegaMillions tickets for tonight - if I don’t win at least one of you have a better chance - and here in Georgia the State Education fund gains some cash from ticket sales.

Thanks for everyone’s good wishes - I am glad to have such friends and acquaintances here on TRF.

A life sentence would be nice for that guy(maybe he croaks early to save the tp). Adoption is the best avenue for that excrement orface of a female. I really hope you get your prized possessions back (platona). Your deserving of it.

Hardened, repeat offenders regardless of the type of violent crime, and this is a violent crime as i am sure that had someone been home they would have been seriously injured or killed, deserve to no longer be among the living.

Hi Paul,

I realize we don't know each other and a strangers wishes don't always amount to much but I'll say it anyway. You're a class act and I'm sorry for all the heartache you've had to deal with. We all share a common interest and on some level that binds us. Wishing you a great 2018.

Paul, thanks for the updates, the wheels of justice can turn agonizingly slow at times, please keep us in the loop.
Your attitude through this ordeal shows what a class act you are.
