Having tried several Day Dates as my wife was considering getting one (was able to convince her to get her a RG Royal Oak instead), and owning a 7900, I can just say Rolex and VC are in totally different leagues. Don’t settle for the Rolex. Yes you may lose a bit buying new in the short term, but many DDs can be had under retail as well these days.

Why would they offer you the same watch again if you declined them in the first place? Id leave the chance to others if I were Vc

Luckily for you vacherons second market value has tanked and they don't hold much value, so I can imagine you can grab one later on from grey, possibly at a discount too. Win win

How easy is it to source leather straps from VC boutiques?

It should not be hard and most of the time it can be ordered if the one you want is not in stock.

Thank you llngoc. How supple are the VC alligator straps out of the box and over time?

TBH. I never used the alligator straps from VC. The watch is always on the bracelet or the rubber strap. (I got red, white, blue and orange)

The newer Overseas also only ship with calf. No more alligator strap.

My local VC boutique has a "strap bar" where you can order even custom made straps. I'd just call your local AD.

Can anyone tell if this is a 42042, and/or if the dial is correct? The no "swiss made" on the bottom bothers me...

I’ve had the Dual Time for 10 months now and enjoy it a lot with the bracelet and the rubber straps. I’ve never put it on the leather, but this morning, I decide to take that strap out of the box (need to first dig out my box) and put it on. While I didn’t get the gator strap, the Calf straps work well with the watch and I find it actually fit me wrist better than the rubber with less “flare out.” Looks like I’ll be wearing this on tenge leather strap for a while and now I want to order a gator strap with slightly different color combo.

Same for me, the rubber strap flares out like crazy I cannot possibly wear that. Having been a mostly dress watch guy I am not used to the bracelet either... And calf strap isn't bad, but kinda feels like in no man's land for me.

However the cordura strap really saved the whole watch I'm now immensely enjoying the overseas! Highly recommend guys to ask ur BT to get one

I wasn’t aware they had cordura style options - I’ve thought a fabric-style strap would be fantastic on these pieces. I’ll look in to it further.

Is it similar to the one on the Everest LE?

The Everest cordura strap looks great. I see why it works so well with the watch. I haven’t check in with the Boutique so not sure if they can order it. Can you share the model or part number if you have it?

I find that the somewhat rugged leather of the calf strap together with the contrast stitching gives the watch a somewhat “field watch” style. I like that occasionally but the two other “versions” of the watch suit me much better.

I’m considering getting an alligator strap at time point to see how much you can “dress up” the Overseas. Not sure about the color scheme yet. Brown? Blue? Grey?

Any RL pics would be appreciated.
“Field watch” is a good way to describe the style of the Calf strap. I kind of like it as it’s not fully dressing up the watch. The Alligator strap for sure makes it’s more high-end, but from the pictures I’ve seen, it’s more luxurious than dressing up. Still thinking about getting a Gator strap and on what combo works. I’m leaning toward red stitching on grey or dark blue.

I have the same gripe about the rubber “flaring” out. I’ve heard that the Vagenari rubber strap flares out less - can any folks here confirm that?

Absolutely, the flare is non-existent. I have the blue 7900v and have added several of the Vagenari rubber straps to my collection. I have their olive, orange, white, and navy staps to mix between. They are frustratingly expensive, but are more comfortable to me that the factory rubber. They come with a quick connect to link up to the oem deployant, but it also easy to swap out to a 20mm tang style buckle.

Beautiful!!

Seeing yours, makes me desire mine more.

Was debating trading down for a blue steel but the inflated price of those has kept me from pulling that trigger.

I was thinking of doing the stainless blue face but you get a bit more watch for the money with the rose gold in my opinion.
