I have grown to despise the BLNR and my feelings are only getting stronger with every "incoming".

My issue with the BLNR is the hype around it. The 116710LN gets relatively little attention here on TRF but make half the bezel blue and everyone loses their minds!!

I don't think the BLNR is a bad looking watch by any means although I prefer the LN. I feel like by making half the bezel blue it threw off the balance and clean look of the 116710. I also prefer the green GMT hand and text on the dial.

I know it's all a matter of personal preference but I wish I could understand why the BLNR is by far and away more popular than the LN.

I cannot agree with you on this!

This is the reason why I got a DeepSea...because I am hydrophobic to the point where bath water approaching my chin will give me a panic attack.

Not joking.

I got my BLNR 3 days before heading to Baselworld and they had the Tudor Fastrider black shield there too at a steal of a price but I live the look of both so waited till I got back to grab the Tudor.

Id have ended up taking both watches on my trip otherwise as I am an idiot.

Totally.

I got the LN first but green isnt my colour, blue is. So I got the BLNR too. Having both prefer the blue still. Just personal preference:)

I dont understand the appeal of Daytonas and would not buy any of them from my AD, even at a great price

The BLNR looked good to me at first, but I think it is a fad and the LN is better looking

The Sub looks better with a cyclops, even though i like my sub that doesnt have a date (dont want to call it a no date subc for fear of offending people here)

Tudor is not equal to Rolex. Rolex > Tudor 7 days a week and twice on Sundays.

Sub should be offered in 42. 40 is too small for modern sport piece

Im happy that Rolex restricts the production of popular models. Thats part of what makes them popular. Other than Daytonas, i commonly see all SS models at ADs.

End rant

Not sure if these have been mentioned but here goes:

1. I wish the bracelet on my GMT-IIc didn't taper so much. Maybe down to 20mm would've been nicer

2. Not a fan of the indices on the new Daytona or similar ones on vintage pieces

3. Some A/R coating would be nice

Eh, but who am I kidding, these are amazing watches.

Just my opinion....I would never buy a watch with a polished bracelet. I cannot understand polished centre links.

While we are having a moan....I wish Rolex would stop making designs which seem intent on shouting 'I have a Rolex'. A little less 'bling',and a little more subtlety would go a long way.

I feels the same, hence I tend to opt for 5 series models.

D'oh. Yes you are right. My brain failed me there. My Speedy Pro I believe has little to no taper in the bracelet which feels a little nicer to me.

I think most Rolex owners think more people notice their watch than actually do 98% of the general public think your watch is either a Michael Kors or a Seiko/Timex

I agree with this...but I would define many on here as "Rolex collectors". For many, this is the brand they want. And there are plenty of options within just Rolex. Owning 5+ Rolex that are $8k each or more is a lot of money to tie up for many people.

I know this is Rolex's great marketing triumph, but I find equating conspicuous consumption with accomplishment nauseating.

Agree. I don't understand / like PCLs.

I don't like the increasing size trend.

I hate that a steel Pepsi is not in the catalogue anymore.

I liked 5 digit references more than the 6 ones.

There are so many variables at play here but I think Rolex watches get noticed more than we probably think. You have to consider that out of all the people who notice, only a fraction will say something.

Yup. Ive never asked anyone about their watch unless its something very different or its another Rolex owner whereas I see a lot of people squinting at my wrist at all different times and places.

Great thread here. Some that come to mind:

Don't like the hulk but like the 50th anniv LV.

Don't like PCLs but it really works on the BLNR.

Notice above I will say Hulk but will never utter the superhero starting with B.

There are many models that are more suited for a Hublot catalogue.

Daytonas - Never liked the steel bezeled. Ceramic yes, but I will neither wait for one nor pay more than MSRP.

Don't get me started on the insanity in vintage prices.

That said I don't own em as investments.

Yes fellas, you can have too many Rolexes.

Share your unpopular Rolex opinion(s).

Rolex lost its way when they engraved the rehaut on the 16610LV. It's all gone downhill since then except maybe the blue dial Yacht-Master. Yes, the new models are functionally superior but I'd still pick an 80s Ferrari over a Lexus with 22" chrome wheels.

I would never own a white gold watch because white gold is an oxymoron. I'll buy a gold Rolex President on my 85th birthday.
