While I am not Filipino, I lived in Olongapo for about two years. 68-70.
Was in Jr High School.
It is there that I got into watches.
I used to eye a Zodiac Seawolf on display at the Subic Bay Navy Exchange.
Left the PI for Japan where I got my first Seiko Speedtimer and it's been nuts since.
Anyway, your country is the most beautiful country I've been to. And, I've been to over a dozen.

Though now in California, wanted to write and express my love and respect for the land and people of what truly is a Bayang Magiliw.

And thanks to my Olongapo friend, Ethan, for getting me hooked on watches.

Salamat Oscar :)
My best friend in the PI was Oscar. I lived off base and cherish Every memory.

My school buddy, Ethan, that got me into watches always said "we will have a Rolex some day". At 12 yrs old, that was the first I ever heard of the brand. I hope he got one too.

I wish I'd kept in touch with my Pinoy friends. Cool thing is my wife's first husband is Hawaiian/Filipino. And i live in Hawai'i over a decade before i hit the PI. She cooks up the chow from both islands Just last week we made lumpia. SPAM and rice. Patis for me. I'm a lucky buck :)
My 1st watch was a gold tone Timex I got in 2nd grade at Waipahu elementary. Lost it walking home by the cane fields. Next day, someone had turned it in to school office.

Thanks again Oscar, for the nice welcome and prodding me down memory lane.

Osker - waddup mang? Anu na balits? Itching for a watch but can't decide on what brand or model (addiction to gmt under control na - yata). Saw a Radiomir Pam 98 on the FS section but it didn't sing to me. Ordered Isofrane for DSSD, one orange and one black. Should be here next week. Ordered mesh for SMP GMT.
