I agree that SS is more popular in the secondary market. I was wondering why for a moment until I had some insight from my AD.
Generally, TT Rolex commands a premium above their SS counterpart due to their gold parts. Functionality of SS Rolex is the same as TT Rolex. He told me that those who decides to buy TT are usually prepared to pay the premium. They usually buy new from AD and do not really mind paying. One interesting thing is that they do not really visit forums and blogs to help them make their decision between TT or SS. Whether or not they are prefered or not, they are all good watches and were once loved by their first owner. As for the secondary market, I heard that some TT does better than SS versions especially TT-GMT and TT Jubilee DJ. |

TT watches are beautiful. I personally think they are very elegant yet sporty at the same . When I think of a Rolex, I think of a TT Datejust.

IMHO. Like any fashion. SS for today's trend (may be) then TT's trend will come back in the future while SS will look dated. Just enjoy whichever you have for a long time. One day your watch will be on the center stage. P.S Yes, Gold does chose people. Not for everyone in every aspects

For me, TT only rocks in the bluesy (i think it's 16613). That is just an amazing piece. Aside from that I'm a SS guy.

SS is for people that can't pull off the TT because they look like they don't deserve to have on a Rolex.

If you like a YG, TT or SS Rolex buy one or one of each! I think they are all great watches and wear very well for all occasions!
IMHO - Not dated/cheap/80’s/Sopranos/etc.

Trends are changing. TT is dated now. SS or Platty if you can afford and it is classy.
Black is bling at the moment, but for how long? |

This thread is beat to death. We get it, lots of guys prefer SS. That's nice. Enjoy.
Others prefer Two Tone. OK, so we do. Who cares. Fact is the TRF membership is not representative of all Rolex buyers. This place attracts more of the Sub crowd. Folks do like buying used on this forum, not so much outside of here. TT buyers are not the 'used watch' crowd. Why are used Mercedes S Class so unwanted on the secondary market? Same reason. I am bored with this thread already, yet strangely compelled to add another post. Peace out. |

Yup...I think that's pretty much it...TT buyers buy new...just like the MB "S" class sedans...they appeal to a segment that buys them new and when they want a new one, they are not dependent on trade in value to get into their next new model.

Mercedes S-class is also unwanted because of the running costs.
Never been a fan of the TT until i saw the new models in the flesh. The shine and the mixture of gold/steel is just fantastic. The SS models seem so grey and dull now.

I myself dont mind two tone at all, its just that there isnt a huge market for it since it appeals to some, and doesnt to others.

Is int just a personal preference. Value wise doesn't SS hold a better value in comparison even with gold or platinum. It will be better to buy an SS and then buy real gold for the difference in price.

Yes, SS models are an easier sell and greater appreciation than TT, anyday....
